Is this not a good brand? What should I look at for my first dive watch? I do not dive but like the look of a big heavy watch. I would prefer a mechanical watch. You have a nice forum here.

Don't become an Invictim!

Seiko makes a great first dive watch, IMO.  What am I saying -- they don't need to be a "first" dive watch -- they're attractive and a good value no matter how many watches you own.  They have lots of looks to choose from.

I don't think we need to be opening up 2 yr old dead threads in order for anyone to know Invicta sux...even when you get a good one you get slaughtered if you try to sell it and in reality might get 20% of what you paid and that is if you are lucky so my advice to all new WIS is stay away from Invicta and all the hype that Slopnbc and their so called sales forum try to brainwash you with... if you must own one wait until you find one at a price so low you won't feel suckered and believe it or not that place will be Slop as they always drop the prices to rock bottom within 6mos....that always made us feel good years ago to see a watch we bought months earlier for $500. on Slop show up on their site for $200.....I have Invictas that are now 10 yrs. old all hyped back then by Eyal as becoming true collectibles worth much more and I understand they are still hyping it like that... well...BULLSHIT...they're worth half at best...and I say that cuz I'm trying to make myself feel good!dog smile.gif

when watching that show always remember that the watch cost much more than the 1st value pay they try bashing into your brain over and over until you forget the watch cost 6 times that and you will be paying another 5 payments before you own... so always ask yourself this ..."if I had to pay for it all at once would I buy it?" waving.gif

...start researching brands/movements as this is knowledge and knowledge in this hobby will save you money and put much nicer watches on your wrist that will sustain the test of time! mini me.gif

...I have found a few that I would call keepers bought second hand like the 18K Millenium,COSC Speedway and a few 1st generation models I bought new with the good ol' $50. off coupon years ago that still serve me well but like most WIS with fair sized collections they serve their collectors cases better...subtlelaugh.gif

There is some good in them. A $50 dollar auto Inslicta is great for mowing the lawn, changing motorcycle tires, pool diving, reef diving, cliff diving, kite flying, knife fighting, and midget tossing, in short, any activity where there is the SLIGHTEST danger of one of my nice watches getting hurt, scratched, dinged, or broke, an Invicta comes in handy, you have to admit that. I wont wear my Pan underwater, hell, I wont wear my Cuda underwater, but I WILL wear that Infixta all day long in the water, and not give a poop about it. So I still believe they are not entirely useless. AND. they dont look THAT bad. But I will NOT pay more than 75 for one. and I believe that if you can pick up a 50 dollar watch, that does EXACTLY what I need it to do, (tell decent time in hazardous situations, ) then what is the problem with that? I wont pay ridiculous money for them, I wont show them off, I will nod and smile and drool when a Non WIS compliments them. But if it breaks. well. it was 50 bucks. and I think EVERYONE on here has at least ..5? watches? So what that to us? nada. Im not extolling them, nor defending them. But if i have a race, or a dive or a bike ride or a jog or a shootout, I am reaching for that Invicta, LONG before I even think about reaching for my Seikos,or Benarus, or Orsa or Panerai  or ANYTHING else for that matter. I Just like the rest TOO much. Intrictya? Alive or dead, makes no difference to me. (ok, I really DO like my Corduba, Shoot me)

Absolutely good point, RoninThumbsUp02.gif.

But in my case, I'd pick up a trusty, reliable, super-worth-it Seiko 5. Alley fight? Bar room brawl? I'd grab a Seiko diver anyday.yahoo.gif

Yes: As say Ronin, a watch to wear when you clean up the septic tank or during a fight-night in the basement of the IronFist Bar-Club...dog smile.gif
