I am thinking about getting the watch below, but am hesitant because of the following spec ...

Strap dimensions: 17.5 mm wide x 8.5 inches long

I have a 5-1/4" wrist, and am not sure if the 8-1/2" strap length is including the watch head, which makes a big difference in the length for me ... or, if the 8-1/2" does not include the watch head.

Does anyone have any ideas???

Given this is Overstock.com, it is entirely possible that both specs are wrong. 17.5mm for a 40mm case doesn't seem to make sense to me. Given that it is a sport watch, I'm gonna guess that the strap is long. Much like the Lupah straps (9 inches for those now). I doubt very much that it includes the case size in the measurement. 8" with .5" for the buckle is what I'd guess.

I checked out a bunch of sites that carry this watch, and they all have the same, exact specs ...

Well, in that case I totally believe the 8.5" strap length spec. The 17.5mm width, I dunno. That is an odd size. I'm sure you could squeeze an 18mm in that lug width.

Pam, don't worry about the strap. Go get it! :) Cos you can always put a butterfly deployment on it, it will shorten the strap by a little naturally. Alternatively, straps are available everywhere. For e.g. you can get a RED Lorica to replace the stock. :)

So when come to straps, ask our Mr Strapman(mcwright)!!!;):P

Jacky, the problem is this. Its an odd size, she needs a short. That's a tough one to find. My wife has about the same size wrist. Most all the watches she gets have straps that are too big for her. Finding suitable replacements ain't easy. I know first hand. :D:shock:

Straps sellers like Taikonaut, are short in most of their models. I had one and the end piece was just after the buckle and sticking out a little out of the 2nd "excess strap holder"(whatever it is called??). I got my wife a waterproof strap from watchrick and she is using the deployment and it is ok for her small wrist too. :)

As for lug size, I think squeezing a 18mm into a 17.5mm is not a problem. Afterall we are talking of 0.5mm difference only. :)
