Very cool!.  I don't think I like the no chapter ring.  But, I have no taste.  I do dig the yellow hand.  I'm going to start tinkering with these things myself.  I'm currently working on a craft room for my wife.  I'm gonna steal a corner and set up a little shop myself.  You are making me want to get this stuff done so I can play.

It's fun!  I always had a desire to change something about my favorite watches...something that even upon buying the watch was not exactly to my liking...but I never even considered the possibility.  Now,  I am thinking... "I can simply change the color!" etc etc:D

Ha ha ha.  I just read this post.  I thought I was the only one.  I use push pins, paper clips, safety pins, and anything else I can get my hands on.:P  I am hoping that after my birthday that all changes.

Great result, Eric. I like it!!!

I just also started doing some experiment to some of my watches by polishing the case/bracelet, cleaning up the dial including hands to make it look new.

I am actually waiting for the dial and hands that I ordered from Bill Yao and I will do modify my BM as well.

I am also a newbie like you and kinda like doing this kind of stuff on my own. It's less expensive and EXCITING:)

EricAldovino wrote: Well, my impulse disorder kicks in yet again. I now have a yellow sec. hand on my Black Monster.

Tools: watch case opener, thumb tack, Yellow spray paint & Q-tip.

Opened it up, used thumb tack to press stem release button. Pryed out movement...sprayed paint into shallow dish. Dipped Q-tip in paint and chased the seconds hand around the dial till it was yellow.  Crazy, I did not even wait for the atch to stop ticking. Talk about impatience. Overall the job looks decent. This is the first time I have ever opened a watch. It was scary, but I believe I can do anything.

Note: I did not even mask off the dial...it took very steady passes of the Q-tip as the seconds hand would aproach.  I am actually touching it up now. so it should only get better.
Eric: Which case opener did you use? Can you post a pic?

It's also more instant gratification! No need to wait in the mail for modded watch to return. ;-P

Hey orology, I used a "Jaxa Type" opener i bought on Ebay for $8.00. Here is a pic. Worked great! No scratches etc. You can tighten it so as to ensure it grips and does not slip. I could hold wtch uspide down by opener and it would not drop.

Ordered an aluminum chapter ring from Bill Yao. That should complete it nicely. When I install it, I will post pictures.

Thanks Watchboy! I am waiting on the aluminum chapter ring to arrive. I also picked up a Seiko Samurai on Ebay new for $137.00  I may just have to paint the seconds hand on that one orange to go woth the white dial. Retro orange is the new retro orange. ;) I just like the way colors liven up the dial sometimes.
