Mcallan 12 yr old is one of my favorites right now. Dalwhinnie is another favorite of mine,I seem to lean towards the sherry barrel aged scotch. Nice and smooth. Brian

Brian, I know what you mean about the cherry barrel. Now, try Laphroig....not expensive at all but man does it carry a wallop. You'll not like it at first but after a few ounces, you'll never forget the taste of the earth.......yahoo.gifyahoo.gifyahoo.gif. I'm rationing my last 2 bottles and told my sons to stay awaythe stuff and keep it for this grumpy, old fart.

brp, I tried Laphroig at a pipeshow and just couldnt get to like it. For some reason it tasted like medicine to me. I do like Glenrothes though too, also some Dalmore cigar malt (no longer made I hear) isnt too bad either.

Hey guys, good to know a lot of you like the good things in life, besides watches, that is. Myself, lately I've been getting into the very good bourbons like Makers Mark, etc. I guess it depends on what's available when I check out my local liquor store. On the subject of Cigars, what do you guys like? Lately I got a box of Indian Tabac robustos, and after a long time good old Henry Clay's robustos, they're still smooth as ever. Here in Canada, we do have Cubans, and I seem to find them so harsh that I usually stick to Dominican, Honduran, etc. Cheers.

This one is still my fav. No coloring, no chill filtering... Any brown whisky is colored with sugar And a pinch of iced source water

William....I saw your fresh post, amigo, and looked around for something I've kept hidden in my office behind my books. It's one of my faves. Come over, bring some salmon and we'll finish it upyahoo.gif. It's among my favorites.

The one I had was nearly 60%: "Strong cask"hammer.gif Really kicking hard. Some Cognac marinated&smoked whale would have been perfect with that

Just bought a bottle of the Glenrothes for a fishing trip & couldn't resist sampling when I got it home. Fantastic!! I had to force myself to put it away. I'll have to try the others in this thread too.

That's great, Nate! I'd suggest you try and get past the might goalkeeper of single malts.........Laphroig......muddy and earthy taste. Very hard to forget. Very easy to remember. If you can get past that, you'll love single malts like crazy.
