My Post Person just rang the bell and handed me two new watches. One is the same one Oscar just got (Aviator 3105 hand wind 45mm case) and the other is my second Classic model. This one is #3 in the silver series and features a Molnija movement, see-through back, blued screws, detailed dial, etc. Just took this very quick photo.

Outstanding, Michael!  I'll be interested to get your impression of the Molnija 3603 vs. the Poljot 3105, since both are oversized Russian "nine-eaters" with similar layouts.

Offhand, I'd compare the Classic and Siberia Molnija models I have to my Trias Backgammon Unitas 6497. They all have the same basic "feel" when winding, etc. They seem to run about 50 hours or so on a full wind. They all have a nice springy "snap-back" when you wind them. The Molnija movements are pretty to look at. Worth the peek-a-boo backs. Blue screws, Geneva stripes on the movement, etc. Very sexy.

The Aviator 3105's don't feel springy at all when you wind them up. I now have all four models. Oddly, two have screw-down crowns and two don't. The hands and dials glow like crazy in the dark and the watches run for 60 plus hours on a full wind. Obiviously they also have a date complication. I have exhibition backs on two of my four models. There is not much there to look at. Just a very plain movement with no sex appeal whatsoever. None. But, for everyday use I would choose the Aviator 3105. I just like the legibility of the dials and the fact I know its going to run for 2 1/2 days before I absolutely have to wind it up again.

This new Aviator is prettier in person than in most of the pictures I've seen (Oscar's being the exception). The white lumn doesn't glow as bright as the green tint lumn on two of my Aviators, but it is still good.

The Flying Tank I bought awhile back with a Moljina movement has lousy lumn. I was quite surprised with that. I love the look of the watch and all, but the dial lumn is a major disapointment. It has a screw-down crown and does not operate as smooth as the others. It is a bit quirky in fact.

The Buckeye would be me. I graduated from Western Michigan Univ., but I have always been a Buckeye fan. Love the MAC conference and the Big Ten both.:)

Thanks for the comments, Michael.  How about an accuracy comparison?  Do you ever make your own timing adjustments?

Tom, I have given up on accuracy long time ago! LOL!!! And also the fact I am rotating(wearing) more hand wind watches than auto these days, I don't care much about accuracy! :P:P:P After a FULL wind it last me for 2 days and the most I lose less than a minute! Unless it is more than 5 mins in 2 days, then I have to be panic! Talking about being lazy..... that's me!

I've also given up winding my watches(auto) long time ago as my collection keeps increasing! hehehe..... I do not have a single winder. I am not a winder guy LOL!!! I rather spend the money on more watches! :P:P:P That's said, I never made any accuracy adjustment to my watches, I did not attempt and simply too lazy!

Like Michael said, I prefer the 3105 movt of my Aviator to my other Unitas, cos it has a massive power reserve!!! I just don't understand why Molnija does not last that long as the 3105 since both are Russian movt ??? Any clue???

Hi Jacky!

I think I've "adjusted" most all my mechanical watches with good results.  The exception is my vintage gold Omega.  I opened the back once and SCRATCHED the caseback!  I was sick.  Not a big scratch but big enough to be sad about it.

On your power reserve question, my understanding (admittedly basic) is that a watch's power reserve depends primarily on the length of its mainspring and how tightly it can be wound.  Any experts out there???

Hi Tom, that's what I thought of too about power reserve. The 3105 is smooth winding, that I know as I have one, and the Unitas(I have a few) and Molnja(I don't own one ....yet! )since they have less power reserve MIGHT be due to the "harder" springs coil as CLATTING sound is made while winding the Unitas, that might explain for lesser hours or pwoer reserve?
