I'm looking for some opinions outside the fish bowl that is Green Bay. What do you think of his thoughts on returning to football and the Packers' stance on this? I am assuming most have heard the story because we hear nothing but here in Packerland.

I'll reserve my take on the whole shebang so as not to cloud any body's thoughts. And how about a poll so you can just vote if so desired?

Stay retired at least as a QB. If he wants back in let him do it as maybe a coaching position. Let the new blood have his day. He has been waiting for what like 4 or 5 years.

I say that if he still wants to play, let him try it. It's sad he seems to have made the decision too quickly, and it is proper for Green Bay to have moved on and backed their new quarterback. But if he wants to play, trade him!

On a related note, I would love to see him play for the Vikes. Trevarious could use some time under a quality QB to develop.

I think he should stay retired.  He had a great season last year and finished healthy.  End the career on a high note I say.  He may get hurt and have a horrible season.  He may make a great qb coach and maybe a head coach someday.

Let the guy go or resign him...He's still better than anything they got now and he's better than most QB's in the NFL.

He should play...he had a great year last year and he could probably do the same this year...but then again, the Bears did beat him twice last year!!!  Hey, if they traded him to the Bears, maybe Green Bay could win!?!...it's a thought!!! subtlelaugh.gif

Hey...bottom line...this is not about emotions.  This is about winning.  The answer should be decided strictly on with which QB does the team (management, coaches and players) have the best chance of winning!  The fans should have no input into this, as they have no accountability!

I'm not a big sports fan at all. I could care less if he want's to come out of retirement. Now having said that, I really don't know much about the situation that's going on, but I do know he's had a good run of it over the years. He chose to retire and now he wants what? To come back to the same club he left after his replacement has been put in the slot? The club should support the up and coming guy that was groomed as his replacement, just as they have supported him in past years. If he wants to play still, he needs to settle for second fiddle, a different position(asst. coach maybe) or go to a different team. Just my .2 cents worth.

I'm a Detroit area native but a Packers fan.  When Favre is on, there is none better or more fun to watch.  (like the Barry Sanders of QBs!)  but when he's off his game...  Very Painful!  I would love to see him come back and dominate...  but part of me wants him to stay on the sidelines for fear of him bringing the team down.  If he comes back, he has to have basically his best season EVER!  As far as playing for another team?  C'mon!!!  no way.  That would be EXACTLY like Jordan playing for the Wizards.  A good player, not exactly dominant anymore but keeping the team from growing because he's not going to be there long enough to change a whole program.  He's just there taking up space and they have to play him because of his name.

cat28.gif  that's my $.02.

have a good one!

I know Brett ... not as well as I used to but I still have his current cell phone # .... so I was thinking on texting him and telling him to give it up .... just my opinion .... he doesnt need the dough and he is going to look bad if he does this ..... I also have a bet with him that I am sure I have won ( the bet states that he would make it into the hall at 20 to one ...... I made the bet his 2nd year playing for the Pack ) If he doesnt weasel I would get paid in 5 yrs

Brett had a great career and went out a winner...it would be a shame if he came back to a losing, or even bad, season.  Too many athletes and coaches just don't know when the game has passed them by...it's the origination of the term "hasbeen".

Well thanks for the variety of opinions. Personally I think Favre is acting like an idiot. He is showing just how much he cares about the Packers and Green Bay for that matter. Obviously its all about him. His nonsensical allegations are laughable. Its actually funny to compare his retirement press conference to his recent interviews with Vansustren. He needs to man up and take accountability for his decision and stop blaming Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy. I am very disappointed in Favre and believe this shows his lack of character. I am truly outraged the Packers have been put in this situation. Hey my last memory of him was from the NFC Championship game... as I watched from the south end zone of Lambeau, he threw a pick that cost Green Bay a chance at the Super Bowl. Again his lack of accountability and waffling really show his true colors. Very sad. No matter I guess as it will work its way out. I'll always think of Bart Starr as the greatest Packer QB. He lived in our community and I went to school with his kids. He was and is a pillar in green Bay and a selfish child like Favre could learn a lot from Bart Starr... CJ, write the tell all and dispel the myth...
