most of tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, returning Sunday.  I am off to Phoenix for an event I have been dodging for years.

With great anticipation and trepidation, I am finally going to attned my first Annual Reunion of the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One).  I have been making excuses for years using distance, family, etc. for excuses, but now that it is right in my own back yard, I've run out.

Hopefully, the memories that come back will be good ones..........

You need to really go enjoy yourself.  I've spent the day watching my father-in-law recover from quintuple bypass surgery.  It has to be better than that. At least I hope so.:D  The dude is doing great so far.  He is as strong as an ox.  Nobody even knew he was having such a problem.  He had been getting winded mowing.  Which he is obsessed with.  But other than that.....He felt ok.  His wife made him go get some tests done on some bus that goes around offering these tests for cheap.  The doctor didn't like the results and did all the necessary tests.  Most of his arteries were completely blocked.  He had about 20% he was functioning on.  I have no idea how.  He is a regular active dude who also runs a business.  Pretty amazing he never had a major heart attack.   Anyway,   he is doing great and his first words were....."Who is going to mow the grass?"  He needed some pain relief and they had written down codeine, which he is allergic to.  So the nurse caught it and asked him about his narcotic history and what he has taken besides codeine.  In which he replied "crack and some methamphetamine but  never inhaled"  Gotta love a dude he maintains a sense of humor immediately after his chest has been cracked open.

So I guess what I'm saying is.....  Dude, go enjoy yourself.  You are a hero and you should treat yourself like one.

Ken,I have no idea of what it might have been like during your time of service buddy, but go with the knowledge that you are a Hero and a patriot in the hearts and minds of your friends here and those that served with you. Enjoy yourself, my friend:)
