Since I experimented with a metal band application for my Vortex. I figured I’d start a new thread so it won’t get buried in the “Bracelet for Vortex” thread.

After finding out about Mr. Boschetti’s New Cave Dweller ratcheting buckle. I jumped off the fence and ordered it as well as a Strapcode PVD Super Engineer SS Band.

When both items arrived, I place them together to start the process, but was bummed that the last link that attached to the 6 o’clock side of the buckle was different (or wouldn’t allow the two to be joined harmoniously). Oh well, it’s not the first idea I had that didn’t work!

Later that night, I took the two out again and figure I’d see if the links would mesh together (on the 6 o'clock side)….and to my surprise….a perfect fit…..I mean perfect fit….and the link’s design, are a very close match.

I emailed Jay at MCWW and was planning on sending it off to have him bead blast the bracelet and buckle (since I wasn't sure about the PVD), but found that he’s not accepting any work for a month or so.

Anyways, since it’s getting hot here in the desert, I’ve been wearing it as is. And to tell you the truth, the black PVD is growing on me. I guess I’m use to wearing the Vortex on Ted Su’s dive buckle so the metal buckle doesn’t bother me.

OK, on to the photos…

SO what you'all think?

Doesn't work at all for me. Those lugs are so long there is an eternity from the bracelet's end to the case. If you can live with that ginormous gap you would have to get the bracelet and buckle blasted to match the case. JMHO but it looks goofy as is... no offense intended and as you well know, if it works for you then it's all good.

LOL, no offense taken...Since the case isn't very high/tall, the gap doesn't bother me, as well as when I see the Kobold Ti bracelet listed for $500.00 plus bucks...It looks even better!

However, I think you're right in regards to the Bead Blasting.  I'm waiting for Jay's email with his work order form.  After which, I'm sending him the set up with a link from my Benarus Bead Blasted Mesh to see which of the three finishes will best match the link.

PS I wish all bracelets would have the ratcheting buckle.  Man that extra micro adjustments are to die for!!!   If I could find a 24mm ratcheting buckle that would work with my SD'r, I'd buy it!

I agree with Pax. There's way too much gap between the case and bracelet with both mods. The Vortex is just one of those designs that really needs an integrated end link

Tell ya the truth, I like it the way it is, I wouldn't even bead blast it. But then I'm no slave to fashion, and if YOU like it, that's whats important. The gap is there with most straps, and if the band looks good the gap doesn't bother me that much. What would bother me is the 120 grams the super engineer band weighs, sorta defeats the Ti of the watch case. jmho ThumbsUp02.gif

Thanks, funny that you’ve made this observation. I was thinking the same thing after completing the project. I tried looking for a Ti bracelet, but couldn’t find one that appealed to me. Especially since I wanted a non-tapering 22mm/22mm bracelet.

I did find a Kobold Ti bracelet selling for $450.00 bucks, but it wasn't in very good shape (IMO) and the others were over $550.00 bucks.

If I didn’t perspire so heavily, I’d wear the Vortex on Ted Su’s strap. But since I live/work in a hot area. I gotta go with a metal band during the hot/hotter months.

However, as far as the bracelet’s weight, it’s not bad on the wrist and (IMO) wears very well.  Especially since the watch head/case isn't (top) heavy (?).

this just doesn't work for me for 2 reasons...the amount of time, effort and $ needed to accomplish the goal and that you will still have a Dievas watch w/a bracelet that says Boschett.
....after trying several bracelets I came to the conclusion the Vortex works best on a strap, whether it be leather or Zulu,of course this is my opinion...I also agree with the whole Ti thing....btw that clasp is used by most all the HK manufacturers...Bali Ha'i, Irreantum etc...

lance, just my view but it doesn't work for me. Somehow while a black leather strap works perfectly on any ti case, a PVD or DLC bracelet on the Vortex somehow doesn't fit...color and tone wise. Also the big Boschette trademark on the buckle doesn't seem to match on the overall look.

I'd stay with leather or maybe rubber on the Vortex.

As they all say though, if it works for you, go for it.

Don't worry guys. A non-leather strap will be coming soon.
