100% agree that it should be quartz, she also is constantly changing the straps to match her outfit...so quick change straps would be a great touch.

agree with quick change straps.....hand6.gif

I agree w/ MartinCRC. A real dive watch 35 - 37mm not a fashion accessory. Having said that I think it would be a narrow market...

You are absolutely correct, a watch created as a "real" dive watch for women would be a very narrow market, the women I know that are into watches are into them for the fashion statement and the ability to accessorize with something cool on their wrist.

Ralf has the WIS side of the business more than covered with his great designs, exceptional quality, and unbelievable CS.

Creating a watch for the ladies that is a fashion statement would be good business on his part....I'm sure most of us here would buy one for the ladies in their lives, I know I would.

It can be in the "dive watch" design, but a quartz, with maybe a MOP dial, changeable straps in 38mm - 42mm range for a couple hundred bucks....I think it would sell like crazy!!!

I agree that women are looking for something a little more showy.  But  a masculine  look is still what I feel is attractive on a woman.  Like wearing a starchy dress shirt.

Some thoughts I had were:

A good crown guard, or a left handed crown.  Probably my wifes #1 complaint wearing big watches is that it digs into back of herl hand.

Big hands  (I know you're the one)

A domed crystal, something that catches an extra amount of light.    Maybe no anti reflective coating.  maybe only single domed.

And the dome transitions into a bezel smoothly.  No immediate change in the slope where the two meet. Anything glossy is easier to polish without crevasses for dirt to wedge.

Enamel seems to be getting popular.  The stainless polish on the Moray looks hot.

I like lume faces because you could something flashy with the markers.  (I would imagine diamonds won't make there way onto a Benarus watch any time soon)

A simpler rubber strap than the one that comes with the SD.  Maybe like the ones shown for the GMT.

Something I could still wear.
  41mm

Interestingly, my wife was just telling me the other day (when i was asking her for the Mega's options) - Benarus should make a ladies diver ;)

She likes the design of the Cuda and SD so far but its a tad too large and thick for her.

IMO a ladies diver for today's women can have the following features:

Largish case - at least 42mm w/o crown BUT not too thick. 10mm at the most.

Movt : Quartz

Finish : Mainly Polished surfaces for added bling

Dial : Colourful dial options eg red, MOP,

Bezel : Stylish numbers - dont have to be too legible  :P

Maybe this dream will come true ? snoopy1.gif

I bought my wife a Renato Beast on rubber which is 45mm and she absolutely loves it. Those who own reNOtos know the Beast is still a chunky timpiece even on rubber. it is hard for her to wear a ladies timepiece now. Anything above 40mm I think would be a hit for Ralph and Benarus. If this comes to fruition, please keep me in mind. I would love for her to have a Benarus.

I just recieved a orange PVD SD that I bought off of another forum today.  As I sat in the officer changing the band, a female co-worker commented on this exact thing.  She would love a "women's" size.

My wife would LOVE a blue faced Benarus that was very small and delicate (25mm).  She adores the Barracuda face and was actually excited about the yellow Sea Devil I just bought.

Unfortunately, she has quite thin wrists, so a big watch swallows her arm.  I'd buy a small one instantly.

Most women I know don't really care much about watches much less whether it's quartz, auto or cranking. They most usually match their watch to their jewelry for the day (or week) meaning the more watches they have, and the more versatile their ability to "blend" with their jewelry, the better for them. Maybe this explains why roughly 80% to 90% of women's watches are quartzies. Patek, Cartier and Omega are just a few of the brands that offer more quartz variants for women than they do autos. Patek's signature line for women is their "24".

My wife only likes watches because of my love for watches. She can't understand why I fuss about them a lot. She wears automatics now because I "confiscated" her quartzies many years ago.

On size, I think 40mm is the biggest that majority of women would tolerate. Not only is it big and heavy for them but a big watch gets in the way of many things they do at home. Maybe a watch coming in at 32mm would be the biggest many would consider at all.;)
