First of all Happy New year 3T!...

I wanted to pass along some news about new features that have been added to the 3T software. Some of you may have noticed a dialogue box appear in place of pics posted that are too large as well as links and certain words being edited out. This is done automatically now and does not involve any of the 3T staff.
We decided to add the tweaks to our software to better serve everyone and to relieve some of the responsibility of the staff so we can enjoy the forum like any other member/WIS without having to stop what we are doing in order to moderate.
Any questions about what is involved with our new automated system can be asked in this thread and we will try to explain the "hows and whys" as best possible.
...with pics you will not receive a warning prior to posting as the software is somewhat limited and you will not find out until the actual post is made at which point you can repost at the correct size and ask any mod to remove the moderated post if you so desire.Below is a sample of the computer generated message for large pics.
TY and Happy New Year!

Hi all,

If you see your image removed, simply click Edit on your post. You will see your original image restored in the text editor. You can then delete it and replace it with a smaller version.

There is no need to ask the mods to do anything.

regards,

Martin.

This tweak is great and I support it. However, just to make life easier for the MODS and "violator", I'd suggest the dialog box have Martin's inputs AND one or 2 other suggested ways of posting the right size, i.e. via the Edit mode on Photobucket or via adjustments to the camera's controls. This new resizing made me trash a picture: Even I resized it again and again on photobucket, it never fitted.
After many resizing, it was not focused anymore and just looking blury: Hopp it goes in the black-hole.mistake.gif
Certainly went like that because of the original size (with added frame) who wasn't fitting or maybe I'm just an (*) with photobucket: But why it was told to be resized again and again there??
I'm not a "photoblabla" addict and I will not start to be one just to post in the daily thread.
So now, I guess that I have many pics who are useless.
I don't understand why, because those pictures was accepted before and not oversizing the screen anymore than any other member's pics

send me 1 of these pics you say are being rejected to timetechtalk@hotmail.com  and I will check the size...the software is right on and even gives a bit of leeway as it did with Brices bordered pic in the daily today which was 800x618 ....if you are adding the border after loading it onto PB than the pic will be too large...you must border the pic and then load it to photobucket for auto resizing...personally I don't get the whole framing idea?

Framing watches is just for freak-artists-watch-idiot-savants like few of us: We like perfection and the cherry on the cakedog smile.gif
I bordered my pics on photobracket after they been loaded full size: That's the problem

If you choose to put a border around a picture in Photobucket, remember it is an additive process. Meaning it increases the size of the picture.

So, I took an already sized 800x600 picture and added a nice fat border to it. Now the size of my picture became 895 X 696. Too big for 3T. So, what to do?

Now that I have the border added and I have saved my new creation, I chose to re-size it. But, to keep from distorting my picture I did not use the automatic resize setting of 800X600. I chose other options at the bottom of the drop down sizing menu.

Then I selected keep proportions and adjusted the WIDTH ONLY to 800 pixels. My new size with border is now 800 X 622 pixels. Now my picture still looks nice and it should still fit on 3T.

It worked but as you can see: The border is retracted only on it's down right side and the frame become unbalanced...278.gif

Did you save the picture before you re-sized it?

After you add your border and you are happy with it, then save the image and it becomes a newly sized picture. Now adjust the width as suggested above and the border should not change.
