Ok, so I have cleaned guns, I have cleaned knives, I have cleaned computers and cars not to mention hundreds of other things.

My watch on the other hand I just tend to not be so dilegent in cleaning.

What is the recommended or your preference in cleaning your watches?  I am sure there will be more than one way to do this, so I am hoping for more than one answer so I can figure out what may work best for me.

My Marine Star has been negleted it's whole life, my Accutron tends to get a cloth to it only after I notice it is dirty... but my new Orient should not fair this same fate....

Help....

Crystal Clear works for me Joeyhand6.gif...they carry it at the WatchPrince and here is a 10% off code TTTX10 to use at checkout...the small jar will last a long time...the larger and your'e set forever!:D it works great on acrylic crystals toowatch2.gifPick up a microfiber towel for in between polishing usually in the automotive dept. at Target,Wal_Mart etc...they work great for daily maintenance....be careful using the CrystalShine or any polish on plated watches as it may remove the plating ,Buddy...cat28.gif

I've used the crystal clear from watch prince also (thanks to Oscars suggestion) and it works like a charm, and can remove minor scratches....  hand6.gif

If you are just talking about general claening after a day's wear, I use a soft cloth and a soft bristle toot brush....takes about 10 seconds!

Thanks for the idea's on cleaning.... not sure about the polish since one is for brushed and one is for shiny... since my new Orient is both.... Not sure that would be fun.

Toothbrush sounds like cleaning my weapons... that makes sense to me.... that and a microfiber cloth.  And since I bought my Orient from Marc... I got a Microfiber cloth with it. thankyou.gif

So maybe I will go that route for a while... time to buy a new tooth brush anyways.... since all my other old ones are used for weapons.

For minor cleanings I just use a tiny bit of dishsoap and lukewarm water and clean with my fingers. Then dry with a soft cloth.

For minor scratches on polished finishes I use both Crystal Clear and Cape Cod Cloths. I would not recommend them for brushed finishes, though, as they make the finish too shiny for my taste.

Here's my method....yeah I like to keep my watches looking there best :P

After daily wearing I wipe them down with a dry pre-washed 100% cotton wash cloth, (pre-washed to remove the sizing in the material from the factory). Then I use a soft bristled artists brush to remove any lint or particles from the nooks and crannies.

For major cleaning I use a soft bristled tooth brush, Soft-soap liqiud soap and warm water (gentle on the hands, gentle on the watches). Some harsher cleaning liquids like windex with ammonia is bad for the gaskets. Then a soft 100% cotton towel to dry it.

Every so often I will wipe down a clean watch with a jewler's cloth. This brings back the nice luster to the metal finishes. This works on polished and satin finishes, not beadblasted. Make sure the watch is clean before you do this step, If there are abrasive grit or dirt particles on the watch when you wipe it down, you have the chance of creating scratches.

A clean watch is a happy watch...enjoy! :D
