I just had to snag this Yema Seaspider, mainly because I never see them around.  Word is that they're essentially Seiko of France.

Anyway, the fellow I bought it from, tcdel over at WUS did a really fantastic job packing up the watch with the original burgundy wood box and outer sleeve.

Here are the stats:

Case material:  stainless-steel

Case diameter:  42 millimeters

Case Thickness:  12 millimeters

Band material:  stainless-steel

Crystal:  mineral crystal

Band width:  18 millimeters

Looks like the movement is a 4S15 automatic.  The case is WR to 200m.

The bracelet doesn't feel all that solid, but it has a diver's extension and the clasp snaps securely.

The outer bezel is an odd 120-clicker, where the clicks alternate firm, then soft.  So when I turn it, the thing goes CLICK click CLICK click CLICK.  I've never felt a bezel that moved like this, but then again I'm really new at this.

The inner bezel can be rotated with the crown at 2 o'clock, which is not of the screw-down variety.  Weird.  The crown at 4 o'clock does screw down.

The lume is bright when fully charged, but fades fairly quickly.

I don't think there's anything really amazing here as far as materials or mechanicals (though the silver dial is interesting).  But it'll make a nice casual everyday watch that none of my friends will have.

Nice catch! Yea you don't see the Yema watches to often at all. Nice Spider to catch concrats and enjoy. ;)

And yes Yema watch company is in France and was bought out by Seiko back in 1988. I've heard over the past 3 years they have had some rather nice growth in the watch industry. Yema was founded in France in 1948. :)

Nice pickup SBD! Good depth to the dial and substantial on the wrist - and as with all watches round here - ya did the lume shot too!  Cool! I like the dial a lot.

If ya look at the history of the company's watches, they have had some beauties prior to '88 and some damn nice ones since then, too - yachtingraf, flygraf and a few special editions. Have a look at item number 200228725690 on fleabay for an unusual bi-pole which doesn't grab me - but might interest others here. Mods please deal with this reference as you wish - sale has nothing to do with me - - just issuing an enabler alert...  ;)

Cheers! IanM hand6.gif

Thanks for the comments guys, and especially thanks for dropping additional knowledge on me regarding Yema/Seiko's history together. hand6.gif

That bi-pole watch on Ebay is really a spectacle too!  I wish I could take a shot at it, but my wife would seriously kill me after my string of recent purchases.

Anyone know anything about the 4S15 movement that's inside this puppy?  I found a little info on the web, and apparently it's a big deal to a certain group of Seiko fanatics.  I will say that the second hand sweeps very smoothly.

Here are links to 3 of the Seiko watches that use the 4S15 movement.

Good get SBD and welcome to the forums.  I also like your blue Oceantimer.  I had a black one and it was a very nice piece.

Having been owned by Seiko Watch Corporation since 1988, the company returned to French hands via a buyout by Louis Eric Beckensteiner (doesn't sound French to me :D) in September, 2005.

I'd love to get my hands on the Rallygraf reissue, but I haven't seen one available in the States, and Yema's website doesn't sell to the US.  Just as well, or I would be in trouble yet again :D
Congrats on your Sea Spider hand6.gif

Very nice pick up.  I love the way the dial is set up.  It has some real good depth and character to it.  Enjoy!
