Not as bad as the southern part of the county, but we have around 4 inches so far with more expected. It has stopped snowing though right now.

We had an ice storm earlier and its supposed to change to snow tonight.  Up to a foot up here in the mountains.  I was hopeing it would hit on a weekday cause there are more people traveling.  Why do I hope for this??? I want to see people get stuck and tear up their transmissions.  I own a transmission shop.  After a good snow storm I have a good months worth of work.:D   Really bad winters are always good for the auto repair business.

Just thanks a whole lot, sled, for sending it our way.  Man, tonight's the start of at least 10 days of sub-zero for highs and lows.  Wind chills are sci/fi. High winds and snow are adding to the joy. :(

Yeah, the gas bill's going to be a doozy.  And, it's only mid-January!  mistake.gif  Feb. and March will bring more of the same.  A happy camper, I'm not.

43 degrees celcius       face4.gif      in beautiful downtown Perth, Western Australia today...

Holy cr*p, Batman - it is hot. I feel for all you guys in minus 40 F weather, but man o man - if the A/C shuts down here today I might just melt. How did cave men and women deal with this stuff?

We don't get snow here in Perth, we have more boats per head of population than anywhere else in the world, we have white sandy beaches and a great river that splits the suburbs into north and south - all the good things. But the southern hemisphere's summer is getting hotter, I swear...

Hot or cold - I hope you 3Ters stay safe and well!

Stay cool brother!! I wonder how cavemen dealt with this cold... or for that matter how the pioneers did. It is deadly cold... and that's no joke. Schools all closed again for the second day. The cold literally takes your breath away.

Oh I'd love to be in Perth for 2 or 3 days right now. But even my 32 degrees F is a heatwave compared to those over in the midwest right now. Looks like todays hight may get to 45. If I lived in the midwest i would be shut in for all this. With my health I could not risk getting out in it. You guys stay warm. Don't forget the longjohns and mittens. :)

Can't really breathe outside....hurts the lungs, so may forget about getting the mail today.  We're not quite as bad as some of you... -16 earlier, but has crawled up to 1 right now.

A happy camper I'm not.

Pax, good question:  how did the pioneers manage.  They were tougher than we???

Wheres the global warming????  Could use some right about now.  "Only"  got down to -4* last night.  2* right now.  The coldest I have ever been in was -28*back in march '94.  That was one cold day.  I drove 11 miles to work and the temp gauge in  my truck never moved off cold.  Had  no heat at all for the ride to work. BRRR!

Methinks I've just about had it with you and Ken and your sufferings with warmth and sunshine.

Did you originate from the East?  Most citizens in the west have done so.

Remembering what it was like is NOT the same as living through it!

We are today's pioneers; we're the tough ones.  Whilst you and the others are . . .

We made it to 7 below last night.  It is nice and warm in my house at 75*.  As long as I am dress for it, the cold doesnt bother me.. Its 12* out right now and I have to cut some firewood today.  If I cut up 15 trees, that will last me a week or so.  I have a pair of the arctic carharts that I wear outside that keeps me nice and warm.  After cutting all that wood I will be sweating.  The coveralls work great.

Looks like that cold spell dipped rather low into the states. My parents are in North Alabama and dad said it was 9 degrees there this morning. :?

Sitting right at 30 here but the fog has cleared and the sun is out so may get to the 40's here today. :)

Well - I suppose it is only fair to be even-handed. I complained about the 43 degree C day we had here recently, and the weather has now calmed down a bit to 30 to 35 degrees C. With a bit of airconditioning - we can all handle that. I feel for you guys and gals in the cold, I really do. But the older I get, the less I want a suntan. Put me in cooler (not your kinda cold!!) weather anyday, I say.

26th Jan is Australia Day - we have a fireworks event on the mighty Swan RIver here in Perth, with the fireworks synched to music. Hundreds of thousands of people will be zeroing in on some prime riverside parks between about 8.00 and 9.00pm - it is a heck of a fireworks show. People sit alongside the riverbanks and picnic all day and into the night. The next day of course, there is an army of people to "clean up". mistake.gif

Summer is a great time of year if you can enjoy it - but then again, every season has its good points. I remember one fall in Houston when I was walking down a residential street just off Westheimer, and the whole street was a canopy of trees with their leaves in fall colours - a winter in Paris with a favourite gal, and spring in the UK - all bring back terrific memories. I guess that all we can do is take advantage of what is dished out and keep on keeping on.

Stay safe and well you freezing 3Ters - it never lasts forever.

Have a good day! IanM hand6.gif

It was low 80s again today and I REALLY felt it.  The AC in my office building went out today and my office, which has two walls of glass facing the afternoon sun, got sweltering.  When the inside temp reached 88 I had to pull the plug and went home to work.

Mid 20's today, I didn't even wear a coat over my suit jacket. Whooohoo. Been decent around here last few days, had a blast sledding on Monday w/ friends and a dozen kids. Cool enough not to overheat, not cold enough to prevent standing at the top of the hill and chatting w/ fellow parents.

Supposed to be another arctic chill headed here, but not nearly as bad as last weeks (thank goodness!). Only below 0 at night. At least the worst of the cold should be behind us now. Looking forward to a couple of months in the teens, 20's, and occasional above freezing!

Then on to my 6 weeks of summer (thanks Pax!).party.gif

Dear Mr. Sled,

You're dreaming if you really believe this:

At least the worst of the cold should be behind us now. Looking forward to a couple of months in the teens, 20's, and occasional above freezing!

Winter's not even half over and you think the worst is behind us????   Well, of course, I hope you're right, but, frankly, I very much doubt it. :(

Typically around here the worst of the cold is in January, then snowier in Feb/March (April/May subtlelaugh.gif Junemistake.gif) So I'm hoping the bitter cold is done!

Dear Mr. Pax,

I am a pessimist; ergo, there is no "bright side".  That long slide of which you spoke may end around Mother's Day.

We're "through January"??  geez, my calendar shows 7 more days in this wonderful month.  Then, there's the bloody blizzard of February/March.

Thank you for trying to get me to see things as "better", but the gray skies (probably the fog from Dawg) and piles of dirty snow just don't do the trick. :(    sigh

Toni... try to look on the bright side!;) We are in the long slide toward Spring here in the Midwest. The days are getting longer and we are through January. Surely things must be getting better??face4.gif

Dear Mr. Hucky,

You and your bloody "Cheers" . . .hmmmpft!  :D

Must admit humidity is the pits; nevertheless, what Misters Pax and Sled and, of course, moi are enduring is beyond words.

Will cease and desist now.

Sincerely yours........yadda, yadda

as to the rest, tough toenails!  (a Frank Burns quote--if you know who he is, but maybe your big-deal humidity is playing havoc with your sense of recall)

this has been just heaps of fun.  I now leave for IHOP......eat your heart out.......

Okay, Dawg.  But, if OG yells at moi, I dump all the blame on you!

Temp's starting its inevitable decline to that cold and gray and dismal thingy.  I am becoming depressed, methinks.......sigh

Well, guys, the white hell has once again returned, and I don't know how much longer I'll be with you posting my little nothings. :(

The nmad stuff is just over 12", and it took me four tries to even come close to the ground--and all uphill.  Naturally, it was snowing like crazy as I was doing my thing.  Opening up the apron of the drive, where the street cleaners have it piled into a solid chunck is beyond words.

I think I did too much  mistake.gif     Been nice knowing you.  Gotta lie down.
