Today I  talked about the price with the manufacturer.
If I order I can take only 100, don't have more budget.

To make it short
for $550 I could offer you the Megalodon with 3 different bezel options
1. with luminous acrylic or enamel inlay
2. alloy inlay probably also luminous
3. all stainless steel
ETA 2824-2 movement
Steel bracelet
Rubber strap
Leather strap

the price difference between ETA and Miyota is about $ 80
but what is also more  is the inlay bezels
steel bracelet
and that only 100 pcs

Please let me know your ideas both movements are not possible in one batch
and vote what is important for you

PVD will be $50 extra and who wants a DLC can get for $130 made in Japan

With Miyota , only one bezel and no bracelet we can come to $400 I guess

I believe you would be able to choose 1 bezel from options, much like choosing orange minute hand or not.

Ok I see many are for ETA and steel bracelet and bezel choice.
Bezel 2 and 3 have the same crown
the crown from bezel 1 is different.
I can offer all pre orders to get all 3 bezels in the $550 package , change is as easy as opening a snap on case back  but the crown will not match to all bezel designs.

I will think about a second dial option with less big markers for those who like a more decent dial on a decent 47mm case;)
So we make 50 pcs each
I will show you the bracelet later, I think it will look cool and hope the end pieces can be done how I imagine

Ralf

How about GIANT MORAY EEL ?  Use the No. 4 dial from the Moray but in the bigger Megalodon case.  You will be knocking on the heels of vintage PAM.

I am working on a dial #2 that is different, but still keeps a shark theme, I will present it to Ralf, then post on the forum. I should have something to show tonight.

Steve, I have drawn a couple of dials using the large teeth at 12,3,6,9 and smaller teeth everywhere else that look really good.  I still like the carbon dials (we remember the Barracuda)and think a carbon dial with the shark teeth would be nice.  I have even thought about a lume chapter ring (like the Cuda) but with a lume bezel this may be too much.;)

while waiting for Ralf to get back home I want to post these to get some feedback on the direction it is going. this is for a possible dial 2 option: it would be a white lume dial with black hands, red second hand.

I gotcha... This will still make a FANTASTIC watch for the guys who want to tone it down a little bit. I on the other hand want a watch that will swallow up all other divers in it's wake!

I guys,  even if i didn't post much in this forum, I've been in the back ground reading what you guys have to say about Ralf's watches since the beginning,  Also, I'm french Canadian so sorry if my English is not perfect or sounds french ;).    When i saw the Barracuda for the firs time, it was sold out but I felt in love right away with it.   Beeing a WIS i felt like i found a brand that was different (i know the case of the Baraccuda was used by a few other companies but none managed to make it stand out like BENARUS  imho), it had the'' tool look'' that i like, it was clean, auto, sapphire, looked solid and professional was limited and, the price!!! Are you serious!!!???  Then the See Devil drawings came out and i didn't miss a second and orederd one, just because of you guys.  I have never read a forum for a product that nobody as anything bad to say about, every single person with a BENARUS was happy.  Ralf was answering all questions and had people involved in the development, first time a saw somthing like that. And again, it had a ''TOOL look'', solid and you could see it had the BENARUS signature.

Since i received my SeeDevil todaysnoopy1.gif (i will be posting pictures tonight) I now know for sure that i will be getting an other BENARUS.  I'm verry interested in the MEGALODON because it has a big case and i like big watches (even on my medium skinny 7'' wrist), the bezel reminds me the one on my Marathon J-SAR because it's massive.  The ETA movement got me all exited but, there is still something with the dial that doesn't work for me.  Again, it's a personal opinion and i'm not asking to design a watch for me, i'm just giving my impression on what came out so far because i have interest for it.  So, i like the idea of Shark teeth and all that but i also saw a Citizen watch in it the first time i saw it and for this reason i feel it still need a bit of work to be outstanding.  At the same time, i know a few of you like it like it is so... I would like to see a more ''instrument'' dial too, keeping in mind that this is a professional diver's watch more than a fashion watch.  I see that Steve L. is doing a lot of work to help (and you have a lot of talent by the way) with other members but at the same time i feel like there is a rush to come out with another watch  fast fast.  I love the case back with the jaw bones done by Steve, i think this has to make it to  production 100%.  I would just like to see other dials since i'm not hooked like a was the first time and i know i'm not the only one.   I want this watch so please, help me Ralf, keep up the good work !!!

Sorry if i wrote a book, maybe i should post more often so i wouldn't have so much on my hart :P.

Thx for reading!

Hi DM71, An instrument dial would be cool. I am signed up for Dial #1 with the Teeth and 2 piece dial, so I will try and come up with some options that are cool for Dial choice #2 and see what you guys think. I think there are a number of us who are loving Dial #1, and Ralf said he could do 50 of each dial for a total of 100 watches. Many people who don't like the big teeth were suggesting a lume dial, but I think there could be much more development on this #2 dial.

Steve,

I really like the way you've cleaned up the look... this is starting to look more refined which is good.

I still like the bezel option Ralf showed as all SS which had an innner and outer ring.

I would love to see a blood red dial with white lume teeth.

My wife has been following this thread....she's an artist so she is intrigued about this process....

So she says to me if you are trying to represent the markers on the dial as the jaw of the shark this would be more accurate.......it's  a simple change but kind of interesting....thoughts??

VERY interesting.  It does look like a jaw open.  Maybe add tiny teeth or dots or something at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions as I feel it currently looks very empty.  Otherwise, great idea!

here are some more ideas for the first dial, I like the steel behind the ring, but this is what it would look like with Carbon fiber or a black lume dial.

The blancpain 500 fathoms is mixing lume like this and it is very interesting if you haven't seen it.

the new dial has a plastic ring that sits over the metal dial and the ring has the teeth on it, popping it from the back dial.

hehe! Sorry Teddy, just trying to find out what is cool, and what people might want to see. I like the brushed steel behind the teeth, but black lume mixed with C3 might be really cool.

I guess you could see that as PVD, but that was just my night time lume shot!

Ralf,
Just got my PVD w/lume Sea Devil and it kicks ass! $550 is perfectly respectable for the Megalodon watch and everything that comes with it. Keep me down for one...I do not care about the number. Looks great!
Cheers,
Mike

Whatever the final choices are, I'm sure we all be happy with one of them....really like the idea of the markers (teeth) sitting above the dial....adds a cool dimension.

I hesitate bringing this up, but I'm a glutton for punishment...

What do you guys think of the date window...to me I think it kind of takes away from the dial design....IMO I would rather see it without the date window....

I don't mind having a date window that much but maybe it should be a tad bit larger or should be square or rectangular.

personally I am starting to not like the date as much because of switching watches, and quickly getting one going it is easier without a date. like my Unitas hand winds are great to just wind, set and go. I would be ok with or without the date.

From what I have seen, true "tool" watches usually do not incorporate the date into the design... I do like the date for work, but the MEG-DON will be on my wrist either way.watch2.gif

but is this a tool watch... or a cool watch? I think having a model that has shifted away from the comfortable normal features is cool, for me anyway, I have a few tool watches and am excited for this to be a break away... this statement is still about the dial design, I am ok either way wit a date window.

but my Marathon Government Search and Rescue (GSAR) is the ultimate "tool" watch, and it DOES have a date window.

I think that is kind of my point Steve...most traditional watches will have a date window....and I agree with you 100% that this will be a "cool" watch, a little out side the box of what we normally feel as "comfortable" ...whatever the final dial design is it will be "unique" and "cool", again IMO I think the date window kind of takes away from that.

Nabco,

I like this design the best so far.  Looks like the watch can jump out and bite someone.  I am still hoping to see RED DIAL w/ white lume teeth.  Now may be try adding the inside view of the gill rakes at 9 and 3.  Looking into the mouth of the monster.

I also like Steve Laughlin's design with the black lume -- the image of the Blancpain is very cool.

OK, since we are talking about date windows, I'm just gonna throw this out there ... plus I love this watch but can't afford it ;) . How 'bout a date window between 1 and 2 (or maybe either at 2, or between 2 and 3). Not many watches out there with a date ABOVE centerline:

Another thought -- to make this watch truly remarkable, the indices "TEETH" could have the lume painted on chrome... like ORIS TT1

If Ralf is going to upgrade the mvt to ETA, then details on the dial should be considered to make the MEGALADON more than just a big fun watch.  Megaladon has the potential to be a true collectible, and eye-popping watch.

So, imagine the shape of the BIG TEETH with silver/ chrome outlining w/ the teeth raised on the dial.... BGW9 white lume w/ blood red dial, and gill plates in a black lume, or C3 layer under the dial like the Blancpain.

Hey, I am just being creative, and making suggestions...and not intending to knock any previous designs or prototypes.

Steve,

i like that you referenced the blancpain.  A mix of lume would make the watch more visible and night and thus more in line with it tool watch ancestry....yet in a very modernized style. I would keep pushing this style.

This dial gets my vote too... looks stunning...

are these lugs longer than the barracuda and shorter than the sea devil?
