 Vintage California Titanium

The Dievas Vintage California Titanium is the latest addition to the Dievas range of mechanical watches.

Inspired by military watches of yesteryear. The California dial was used by the German Kampfschwimmer during the 1940s. The california dial was essential to the German Kampfschwimmer team. To improve night visibility of the original sigle layered dial, a dual layered dial is used in the Dievas Vinage California Titanium. The SuperLuminova luminous is applied to the bottom layer while an opaque top layer with laser cut indices allow the luminous to shine through. The segmented gold luminous hands were choosen specifically to be as close to the historic model.

The Dievas Vintage California Titanium features a Swiss Made Unitas 6497 mechanical movement further decorated with Côtes de Genève and blued screws. With a titanium display back for owners to view the beautifully finished movement at work.

The 47mm titanium case is fine satin brushed throughout. With contoured sides that flows with the wrist the watch was modelled after the original watch. Removeable 26mm wire lugs make changing straps simple. Domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective coating enables easy readibility under all light conditions. The 5mm diamond shaped crown ensures easy time setting even with gloves.

The Dievas Vintage California Titanium comes with a Dievas signed thick genuine calf leather strap with beige stitching and Dievas signed buckle.

Very nice Anders that should go over great. If I did not have the SS model I'd have to add it to the list. Can't wait to see who gets on on the wrist first. ;)

Wow...striking, classic new addition to the Dievas lineup!!!ThumbsUp02.gif

Love the look of the sandwich dial on this one hearteyes.gif...but like some others, I'm a little concerned with whether or not I could pull off the 47mm diameter "cushion-style" case.

Hmmm...I might be able to do this one...

Those that are familiar with the Orsa Monstrom and the Dievas Vintage Kampfschwimmer on "the wrist"....How much bigger do you think this would wear than the Monstrum??

...will keep an eye on this one for sure...

It fits really well. Because they are only 52mm lugs to lugs.
My lady sales staff in the shop has a 6" wrist and can wear it without a problem.

And for those with the Vintage Kampfschwimmer. Trust me, this is a different beast altogether.

I dropped by Anders' shop today in Singapore to pick up a few straps and some other stuff and got to check out the new Vintage California in Titanium.

It's a very attractive watch with a very subdued titanium look to it. I have seen other titanium watches that seem to be shouting -- but not this one. The sheen is just as I want it. Very serious-looking but with good design lines. It's exactly the same in dimensions as the stainless steel Kampy that I already have. This watch is also very light and doesn't feel like you have a big watch strapped on. I have a small wrist at about 6.5 to 6.75 inches and had no problems with this one. Since I don't have an Orsa, I wouldn't be able to make a comment on the size and feel comparison.

The double dial is a good treatment by Anders and maybe this is why the lume had improved.

This is a must-plan-to-buy watch for me. In due time, I'll take one home. I liked it a whole lot.

Anders, kudos on this new one!hand6.gifhand6.gifhand6.gif

Thanks Anders and Bigrusty for the feedback here.thankyou.gif

Anders - Thanks for the information on the lug-to-lug dimension.  That is really the most helpful dimension when evaluating the wearablility on the wrist.  The Orsa Monstrum at a 56mm lug-to-lug  is a significant piece on the wrist, but I still feel it works well for me.

My wrist is just a hair under 7.25" diameter so this Vintage California would be an easy wear!!!  This one just joined my "To Acquire" list!!!

Bigrusty - how cool to be able to swing by the Ander's shop in Singpore!!!  Your "in-person" opinion/advice is great to here!!

Sounds like Anders has a great one here!ThumbsUp02.gif

Stew77....you might like to know this. I am wearing my Kampy today (Monday, July 27), and the all stainless steel model I am wearing and the titanium Kampy shown here by Anders present a few differences....therefore may not result in a duplication if I were to save up for the ti version:

Roman Numbers: in the steel Kampy, they are I, II, X and XI but on the titanium one, they are at VII, VIII, X and XI. I think this is a sweet detail variation.

Minute Hand: unless some reflections on the photo from Anders has affected my study of the photo, the steel Kampy's minute hand is pointed while that of the titanium is square-tipped. Again, a nice detail change.

Lume: I believe the lume on the titanium is superior to that of the steel Kampyhand6.gif

Bigrusty - Thanks for the additional comments here comparing the Steel Kampy to the New Vintage California Titanium design.

I had not even noticed the differences between the Roman Numerals on the models...agree...cool design change.

...I have always been a sucker for sandwhich dial watches and brighter Lume is always a good thing!!

I'm saving my pennies.  Of course working 1500-0300 helps that too, as I have no time to spend money elsewhere :D.

This model may go down as one of the most sought after Dievas model in years to come. Very well done mate! I like the unique dial design and the titanium finish is something else.

Can't wait for mine to arrive early next week! Continue your great work Anders!

So, I just received my Dievas Titanium California this afternoon. It is a fantastic looking watch, the sandwich dial is amazing. This is my first Dievas and likely will not be my last. I do have one issue with the piece, which is that it looks fairly small on my wrist. Granted, I do have larger wrists (about 8"), plus my watches do tend to be hefty pieces (usually between 45mm-50mm), but this watch just seems to wear small, at least, smaller than I hoped or anticipated. Please understnad that I'm not knocking the watch or Dievas. The design, build quality and even presentation are first rate, no doubt, but it just may be that this piece wears too small for me. If I do end up returning it, I would like to still have a Dievas watch and therefore, was wondering if anyone who owned a Vintage Kampfschwimmer and also the vintage Ti California could post a side by side picture for me? If nobody has both yet, maybe I could impose on
Anders to do this for me? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS - Attached is a wrist photo, I was hoping to get your opinions on the watch. Thanks.

J. Hill, both watches are almost exactly the same except for the weight where the Ti is, of course, about 30% lighter but with a metal that's roughly 30% harder than steel. Maybe it's the lighter Ti weight that makes you feel the watch wears small.

One other small difference is that the Roman numerals on the Kampy are the 1, 2, 10 and 11 hours while on the Claifornia they are the 7, 8, 10 and 11 hours. To me the dull gray patina of the Ti is something cool and is unlike the usual stainless steel.

My Kampy has a few tiny dings and swirls as a result of some careless use but I think if it were in Ti,  wouldn't have this problem at all.

This is the vintage Kampfschwimmer with the large domed acrylic crystal. Can't give you a side by side but this is what the watch looks like on a 7.25 wrist.

Such a cool idea - combine the sandwich and Cali dials.  So this would make a "Calwich" dial, or a "Sandi", etc...??  ;)

Cheers
