Hello, first of all I really like the looks of the Vortex!  I'd like to order one but am wondering if there is a possibility of having a date display.  I know lots of folks like the clean look that the non-date dial provides, but I'm constantly forgetting the date and have relied on my watch to track that for me.

Thanks,

Kev

Kev,

Might be a question to ask Anders, you can find his e-mail by clicking on the banner. Obviously you would have to source a new dial..the question is if the date wheel was left on the movement when built or if it was removed. He would know.

Hope this helps, Tony

What I do point the bezel to the minute mark that corresponds to the date. It's just 1 click. I do this first thing when I put the watch on for the day. Of course this means that 59 is the 1st, 58 the 2nd, etc, but you quickly get use to it. Every other month I use the other half of the dial so I don't have to turn the bezel a half turn.

It's certainly a lot easier than setting a date after the watch has been sitting idle for a while. You don't have to be concerned about the am/pm aspect. I can't tell you how many times I've guess wrong and the date changes at noon instead of midnight!

Dan

Did you hear anything regarding the date wheel? It would be interesting to hear!

The date was not included into the Vortex due to the fact that it somehow makes the design of the dial off symmetric.

What about the possibility of a GMT function?

I don't pretend to speak for Anders or Dievas, but it is a market niche specialty watch, that sells for not a whole lot of money. Recently got mine and I LOVE it, (serial #99) and my guess is it is unlikely that many hundreds of these will ever see the light of day. (be manufactured) To tell the truth, I wish it had a date function as well, GMT wouldn't hurt in small numbers, maybe even SOLAR powered with battery and atomic clock sync, so I would not have to reset the time if I didn't wear it for a day or three, and I wouldn't mind if it had some tritium tubes in it, ala Luminox or Traser..

It is what it is, and the most I have ever spent on a watch in my lifetime, It looks killer, its Titanium and if it was SS, it would be too heavy for my tastes. I am glad I bought it. No it doesn't have a built in compass, altimeter, barometer, heart monitor, presidential daily tracking poll, etc, It is what it is. It keeps pretty good time though.

When I figure out what I did with my jewelers screwdrivers, I'll install the great strap I bought from Paul at Orb, and put up some pictures! Otherwise, it would just look like yet another Vortex with black strap. (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I'm not saying that the Vortex isn't a GREAT watch. It is. Hands down it's my favorite. It's my daily wear gal.

However, that being said, I'm an engineer and as they say, an engineer's work is never complete. If I were able to make my ultimate watch, it would be a GMT. If this were possible on the Vortex, I would probably consider having some work done to convert it.

Still, cudo's to Anders for the SMOKING hot watch and amazing value that the Vortex truly is.

Well then contact Gnomon or Fricker and offer them a bunch of $$$. As for myself, I can add 12 to the numbers 1 through 12 pretty easily in my head, and I have never even been in the military.

Sorry if I am giving you grief. (I am) I do understand when you want want you want, and can't get it. I personally want a Stowa Prodiver with a Turkis (turquoise) dial, and if that isn't rare enough, I want it made of TITANIUM! mistake.gifwoohoo.gif
