with about a half dozen watch companies coming out with 2000m + dive watches utilizing the same case I was happy to see the new DeBaufre offer their own version with the new Triton 2000m "Midnight Zone" being offered at a pre-order price of $850. with a eta which sounds very inticing when taken in consideration what the competition is charging!....the latest addition is the pre- Basel preview of the Schauburg Aquanautic II at a base price of  890.euros for a base sw200  and 1190 euros for a chronomter and a striking resemblence to the Trition 2000....I am anxiuosly awaiting the new Triton to see how the lume stacks up with the skeleton hands but my exeperince with DeBaufre has always been superior lume! ....only time will tell imo! hand6.gifhand6.gif

http://store.debaufre.com/Triton-2000-Meter-p/t-dw.20.2km.htm

from the DeBaufre site:

The Triton 2000-meter diving watch. When making the descent to the Ocean's depths beyond the light, a few elements provide security and assist in the safe return to the horizon's-level. At a crushing depth usually reserved for few creatures, the Triton 2000-meter feels right at home with a construction pressure tested to withstand the black abyss. At the Midnight Zone, located 200 atmospheres below the waves, the only available light is that which is produced from within.

Housed in a secure 45-mm high-pressure-grade stainless steel case, constructed of 316L surgical-grade steel, sits the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement with 25 jewels, providing the accuracy Switzerland is known for, protected with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass treated in an anti-reflective coating.

Pressure management is automatically provided by an Integrated Helium Release Valve (HRV), located on the left side of the case, while the case is sealed tight with a screw-down crown and an engraved artistic case-back and secured to the wrist with a 5-link steel bracelet, fastened with solid end-pieces, steel screws and a clasp with diving extension.

Beneath the clear sapphire glass lays a deep-black dial enriched with a wavy textured pattern offsetting the orange and white markings on the dial, hands and bezel applied in Super-Luminova phosphorus illuminating paint, and providing an appealing contrast for the metal skeleton hands gently gliding over the dial. Surrounding the Date window sits a sub-dial disc as a tribute to a port-window on an undersea submersible.

The Debaufre Triton 2000-meter is the ideal sized watch for you if your wrist size is between 6.5 to 9 inches and above. And it is priced at a reasonable $850. Water resistant to 2000 meters / 6562 feet / 200 ATM.

Great looking Debaufre watch, but on a diver like this I would want fully lumed hands. cat28.gif

All things considered the dial and hands on the featured Schaumberg are for more appealing to me personally. Of course given the price differential... well?? Not a fan of the skeleton hands either, but it looks like the shiznit for certain!;)

Money no object then the Schaumberg . Just like the look a little better.  The DeBaufre white circle around the date is a little funny to me. Could live with either though

I ever saw this Schaumburg case: It was selling on the Bay under "Waterwall" name... Offcourse by some people attached to the L&B house.
The Schaum. got a serious military diver look who's attractive and more classic: I like simple "PloProf" markers like that and the hands are clearly poping out: It's an action boy.
The Triton got his little blended styles and I like the date window: It's different and the fact that it's placed at 6' gives an uncommon effect.
The skeletton hands are less visible but enough anyway, if not diving in the dark. It lighten the dial I think and make it less busy.
Decision: If I would look for a tool-watch for diving, adventure, missions, outdoor activities, I would go for the Schaum....
If I would look for a cool everyday's "showing off" watch as a desk-diver I would take the Triton: It stand out from the usual divers crowd and looks more rafinated.
Price is also good...

The hands of the Schaumburg and overall design of the bezel and dial are just too much to resist.hand6.gif I think the Schaumburg is also a very traditional, direct-to-the point diver. Everything on the dial and on the bezel makes sense both aestheticlaly and functionally. The minute hand is also very crucial in a diver and the emphasized proportion it has (plus its larger lume area) versus the shorter, stubbier hour hand is something that really makes a lot of sense for divers, who after all, do it deepertoon1.gif

On the Triton, somehow that circular date disc/portal at 6 is distracting, as it is presented. The disc doesn't seem to integrate with the other "cube" elements of the dial, especially the hour markers. I'm not taking anything away from the Triton (I have 2 other Debaufre's and am super happy with bothhand6.gif) but today, that Shaumburg diver wins.

That is exactly what turns me off to the Triton too

My opinion FWIW...I like the Debu ETA 2824 vs SW200....Ilike the date better with the white background as it stands out better....I like the hands better on the  Schauburg also the Schauburg looks like the Zinex..and I like the price of the Debu much better.....

I don't get how a set of filled hands and a clone movement in the Schaumburg justifies a $500. difference in price from the Triton and $800. more for a COSC SW200 ?...I'll wait to see the lume on the skeleton hands before I hold judgement but the eta alone would have me wearing the Triton 2000.jmho...hand6.gif

From what I understood, the SW200 got nothing to envy to the 2824-2 on it's mechanic: It's a pure Swiss copy with one jewel more: Can't hurt....?
But the Sellita didn't get the time to prove himself as long as the ETA and therefor don't benefit of the same reputation: Explaining the suspicious minds:D
Time will show! But I agree with you Oscar: The Schaum's price can't be justified there and whatever people think about the date window of the Triton, no date window is at it's best because it look like all date windows we been used to see since the day we opened our WIS eyes.
I like the fact that some fabricant try to break the classics even they will mostly recolt critics.
And circle date hole in the circle window would have look too much round-around maybe: It's ok like it is I say...
We need innovation sometimes: Not only copies or homages and this date window gives it...
The skeletton hands are great: Nobody says that they are crappy when they are on the Seamaster:D
But if Debaufre would have put a cyclop on the date, I would have been full of bad words
