The straps are quite nice, but I don't see them keeping with your goal above. They don't look like aviator or military issue to me.

Thanks for the view, Mike. Glad you raised it. What I meant in my write-up was the cherry-colored leather which I saw on one of my researches. The cherry strap I saw had olive-drab/military green canvas lining sewn on the inside of the strap. Going gator, as shown, is a temporary experiment just to see how the look would hold.

Still searching for the perfect red/cherry strap.

I like the rust colored one best but of course it's depend on the watch and what you are wearing too I think as these are somewhat of a fashion statement too. Im very curious to see what they'll look like on the Flieger watches as I can't picture it.
Post pics of the combo ASAP :)

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mark, KenC and Trent.

@Mousikorygxos...true, looks eccentric and you are so right about the right attitude. I don't even know if I can do this but I guess it's worth a try.

@Brice....amigo, yes, like a fashion statement (maybe even a weird one) but worth a try (LOL). I promise to post pix once rotation time for the Fliegers come by.

Thanks again 3T for all the comments.thumbsup.gif

Hi Jeff
Can't warm to the tan gold rocky gator, sorry :(

I think that the other two are possibilities though. Neither seems to fit your description of red, cherry or wine (maybe its my monitor?). The rouille is probably the closest, then.

Perhaps the chunky and rounded segmentation/texturing of padded gator straps is what is making us think that the big flieger may not be a good match? JMHO

How did you go with the tryout? Any pics to share, cos I am ready to be proved wrong!

Cheers - IanM

Thanks for the inputs, Ian. I still am/was confused. Thus I just stuck with the original. They're back to OEM.

I think this thread is FIVE YEARS OLD! chickendance.gif

Even though it's clearly allowed in "the man code" to resume a conversation that was interrupted five years ago as if no time at all has passed I still feel compelled to point it out...

and for what its worth at this point  I really loved that knobby animal skin pattern...thumbsup.gif

Very bold! What watch are you planning to put them on? Would be good to see the final product!

If you are going to go with gator straps with this much personality, make sure you have the rest of your ensemble figured out too. In other words, go "all-in". haha. I could not pull it off. I think I like the reddish one the best.
