Hey everybody..I am in the process of replacing the strap for my 50mm U-Boat Flightdeck and wanted your opinions. I was thinking of a black isofrane and replacing the buckle with a PVD Submarine buckle I have..only concern is the lug width is 23mm...I think I can squeeze a 24mm isofrane in there..I hope. Don't want to do a leather strap again..so maybe Zulu/Nato??...PVD Shark mesh??...etc... I am open to all suggestions and photos of something I am not seeing. Also I kind of want something to play off the numeral colour which is a fluorescent yellow. Thanks guys..much appreciated.

Antoine,

I think the Iso is the best choice. Thick enough to handle the weight and keeping with the PVD theme. I think if you try to incorporate yellow into the strap the colors may clash. JMHO of course.

Thanks Tony...I am thinking the same thing...isofrane to handle the weight..and as for picking up on the fluorescent yellow..its just too hard to match...thanks so much for your input

Those big "Russian divers" look great on black 3 rings zulu straps. You'll find them in 24 mm with pvd rings as well.

My Shark is 50mm, lugs space is 21mm and a Zulu 22mm fits great...You could use one like that...http://www.ebay.com/itm/24mm-NATO-5-Rings-Zulu-Heavy-Thread-Nylon-Black-IP-B-/200682846580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb9a13974#ht_3302wt_959

I made a strap for a U-Boat recently. The owner sent me the watch so I could install the strap: The lug bars were damaged so I had to remove them and order new ones. These watches don't have much space between the case and the lug bars, so many custom straps won't fit properly. Not sure but an Isofrane might rub the case, especially if a 24mm is squeezed in.
Here's pics of the strap I made for the watch:

I have a 50mm CAB mounted on a brown sharkskin with a PVD buckle.  The strap is 24mm, but was soft enough to be squeezed into the 23mm lugs.

I'll shot some pictures and upload later tonight...

Like Antoine1966 mentioned, the short lugs will need to be factored in as thicker straps will rub or stop against the case. I tried mounting the rubber/silicone strap that came with my Benarus and couldn't make it fit. The rubber was too thick and I didn't want to risk bending the screw bars...

I also have installed a TedSu dive strap with the PVD buckle. In a word...AWESOME! Again, I'll post some photos later...
