Interesting. "Even if you don't know watches you know Rolex"
This was the last line to an up coming sale at Beyond the Rack. A little odd but actually sums up the average watch buyer IMHO

Yea very true. Many of my non-wis friends are surprised I don't have a Rolex or Omega in the collection. LOL

I heard on my side that "those who sh*t money and know nothing about watches just wear Rolex..."
The funniest one happened to a TatooWis friend of mine not long ago.
A customer comes to get a tatoo in his studio, after talking around the job to be done, the guy seats in the suffering chair and my friend see a PO on his wrist.
My friend: "Cool, you have a nice Planet Ocean there..."
The client: "No...It's an Omega!"

I think this is a testament to Rolex...for building a great watch, and marketing strategy that they are so recognizable and revered as a watch brand!ThumbsUp02.gif

Agree with that comment, but its like many things.
Sony vs Onkyo for those who know audio.
Canon vs Hassleblad for those who know cameras
Or even Porsche vs Gumpert for those who know cars, there are always well known brands and better brands out there but marketing is king, look at Apple!

So true! Whenever a non WIS finds out I collect watches, the first thing that usually comes out of their mouth is "Do you have a Rolex?"

I often related this reaction to the fact that Rolex constantly broke down any record on advertising investments.
As most of those who know the name, never seen any of it in the "flesh".
No watch brand in the world's history used as much as half as Rolex used on advertising: It's a known WIS fact.
At this point: Who wouldn't have heard of them even they are not the best?
