Kicking around some ideas for a new watch.  The two I keep coming back to are the Breitling Superocean Steelfish and the Sinn U1.  I love the looks and the prescence of the Breitling.  I love the unique simpicity of the Sinn.  My only concern with the Sinn is that the AR coating will drive me nuts.

Take the Sinn. I have a U1 and the ar throws out a blue violet hue. yes it smudges easy, but a quick wipe with your shirt takes care of it. I'm not a big fan of buying what everybody else owns. the accuracy of the Sinn is 2nd to none.Just my opinion

I have them both. They are each a great watch.  The Steel fish is a lot dressier. It depends on whether you want a pure tool watch that looks great with jeans and causual clothing, or whether you want a watch that looks great with jeans, but can also look sharp with a shirt and tie at the office. I've found that the Sinn just doesn't cut it under a dress shirt cuff, and it only gets worn on casual Friday and weekends.  Nothing says "still a little boy" more than a giant tool watch worn with a tie. The Steelfish gets worn everywhere.  Both glow like a torch, and both are untouchables . . . .(for now) ;)    Just my humble two cents worth.

The Sinn is shown on an 8.5 inch wrist. No wristshots of the Steelfish.

Boy ....thats a tough one ....they are completly different watches though ....the Sinn is a total tool watch in every way ...the Breightling is a dress diver that can also be used for a tool when needed....hmmmmmmm ????

Ah, the master enabler at work!! You are incorrigible!!

My personal preference is the Breitling and I would hope to get in one some day too. The Sinn is just too Teutonically toolish for me though it clearly kick some major ass.

Regardless the AR coating shouldn't be a make or break. Not a biggie!!

Have fun with it...

Pax

The Steelfish is often available in slightly loved condition for about the same as the Sinn. Of course, there is an alternative in the same price range in slightly/previously loved conditon.  Sorry about the quality of the shot.

Thanks for the opinions and in particular Boots' pics.  The Doxa is interesting because they have such a great following but personally they don't do anything for me except maybe that new Caribbean I see floating around the forums, it's sharp.  Maybe if I saw one in person I would feel different but I haven't come across one yet.  Boots' and Paxman's comments struck a chord with me because I already have a teutonic steel tool in my Stowa Seatime and I find my collection lacking in the Breitling type class department.  The difference in price is there but it isn't that much.  I should of jumped on the one I saw from an AD while I was in Cozumel, great price and no tax to boot.

This is an interesting quandry to have...

CJ and I were discussing this and both came to the same conclusion which really echoes what Oscar said. Both of the watches are very different  and an either or comparison is very difficult. So I gues you'll have to have them both one way or the other. Fill the gap you need to first and then prepare for number two.

Personally I hope to see you sporting the Breitling sooner...

Pax
