Thanks everyone for their inputs as it shows that we would always like to have the real McCoy along with the Hommage if times do not allow our wishes.
I have been trading and moving expensive watches to finally find someone willing to do a trade that gave me a dream watch....I know the person bent in my direction to help me....
Today I am wearing the OldCrowe Hommage and enjoying as if it is a true Panerai.
Sometimes people can also take the position that a Dream watch must be a fake without even knowing the person or the watch....when I picked up the PAM 124 I had the same reaction...it took the wind out of my sails that after all the hard work of searching and trading that you end up with the "real" thing and someone says something negative.....
There are certain brands I love, IWC, Panerai and Rolex....maybe because they are simple and easy to read from an astethics perspective, there is also that feel on the wrist also...somewhow they feel right...do not know how to describe. Also the secondary market is strong if you need to make a change or want to trade up or down.
The real things are always what we aspire to and hommages and the like give us the time to move to to the watch we want.
