During my coffee break from work.
I walked passed a competitor retail store
and sitting on the front window display
was the 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Omega
Speedmaster.

This Speedie comes with either a silver or
gold medallion with an embossed eagle on the
left totalizer, and underneath is the Serial Number.

The box is unique as well, a large leather box with
a matching gold or silver medallion and
certificate of authenticity.

Below I have pasted photo from Bazel 2009,
with Buzz Aldrin (Apollo 11) on the left and
Stephen Urquhart CEO of Omega Switzerland.

Correction from previous post:

During closer inspection today.
The watch doesn't have the serial number
written on the totalizer as I 've previously
mentioned, last night.

The box is made from wood and is
lined in padded leather. The silver
medallion is 0.975 %,which is written
on the certificate of ownership.

Note: Thanks John for the better imageThumbsUp02.gif

That Omega is absolutely amazing!hand6.gifhand6.gif  I hope we start exploring the moon, Mars and solar system soon.  If I was younger I would volunteer to become an Astronaut but I really enjoyed being a Special Ops pilot!!!!!cool10.gif

Skip, that's a great picture. It really looks like a watch to have, not because it's a limited edition but because of its design.hand6.gif

I've seen a couple in ADs in Manchester, have to say I prefer the standard Moon Watch

If you look closely at the image from Skipdawg.
It reads 02:56 GMT on the dial in red, this indicates the exact time in which Neil Armstrong,
Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins had landed.

Over the years there have been numerous
Speedmasters. This watch commemorates
a very special event 40 years ago.

Some of you have given this watch
a "thumbs up" or a "cool rating."
Imagine, if you placed this watch
next to the 2003 Omega "Snoopy"
Edition Speedmaster.

About the Snoopy Edition Speedmaster.
The Snoopy Award design is etched and painted on the sapphire crystal case back. OMEGA received this award, the highest distinction from NASA astronauts, on 5 October 1970 in recognition of its vital role in the safe return to Earth of the Apollo 13 mission.

However, in my honest opinion.
I still prefer the original Omega
Speedmaster with the Caliber 321.
This movement has the very rare swan neck regulator, that the Caliber 861 and 1861 lack.

I've been seeing the :30 spot for this on the National Geographic channel and Discovery, too, I believe.  Kinda nice to see a commercial for something other than a Rolex!

Very cool watch, but I still prefer my "regular" Speedy Pro moon.  :)

I agree that the original Speedy is better
looking. Of all the Omega Limited Editions
watches available on the market.

I rank this one as second,to the
1932 Omega Olympic Pocket Watch Chronograph
Limited Edition. Only 100 pieces are available.

I saw this spot too and was really surprised to see Omega doing a TV ad I've never senn one before it's usually print ads.  It was very cool though.
