Thanks for this, John. I enjoyed the article and was entertained by the Tread 1. But this is not for me and maybe I'd use the $15,000 on something else.

Interesting and amazingly "geeky".  I find a huge problem in the design that it requires recharging every 2 weeks via an induction pad.  My question being that if the design is so, so "space age advanced", why could the designers not simply figure out a way to use solar or kinetic recharging the way Seiko, Citizen and others do?  Hey...how about thermal energy recharging from skin surface temperatures?!?

Not for me!
Hell, I don't even like "quartz" movements so I'll stick to "tradition" and "soul"!

That all said and done, thanks for an interesting post, Skip...

This is obviously geared to the very rich who are easily bored and are into unique "Gadgets" ... in no way is it practical or even esthetically beautiful in my view.

I would not pay $15,000 or even $1500. Looks cool but not for me. I don't get where they went wrong with the charging. My MTM charges the same way and depending on use I only have to charge it about every 6 to 8 months!

Hmmmmm, wonderful engineering, but a bit akin to having a titanium bolt surgically punched through your tibia and then using it as a sundial!
