What do you guys think about the Mario Paci SMZ?
I know that it's not fresh news but the bronze model is.
Here's about the steel model:
http://oceanictime.blogspot.tw/2012/04/mario-paci-smz-by-ennebi.html

It's a collaboration between Ennebi and M.P , all made in Italy(Firenze) except the movement of course.

Here's a stolen picture from the new bronze version (Stolen on O.time, yes again...)

Seems to me like the crown system is no more than a screwing crown locking the first one by pushing it against the case.
The first crown being a simple Panny one.
This locking system seems big and will certainly "crucify" the back of your hand but since I wear some Russian divers sometimes, I guess I could handle it without having bleeding stigmatassubtlelaugh.gif

It look a bit like a backward Panerai with a case-back ring as a bezel but all in all, it has it's charm for those who look for something special.

Guessing that the bronze model would be high price, I looked for a steel model...And found a PVD as well as a steel.
The 4250$ price scared me offwhichone.gif and I bet it will have the same effect on many WIS since there is so much we could get at this price tag.
It houses a 6497-1...For 4250$??? YES, it can!
I explain how: Since ETA did cut totally the selling of this movement to other brands than those belonging to Swatch group as well as the non ETA remaining secretly accumulated hidden stock been burning in a ware-house fire (Don't ask me who bought the gas, but I know who did hold the Zippo: Sid Vicious!)
...And Mario bought the last parcel on earth found in a forgotten vault in Germany( Or was it China?).
But there was a catch! As those last movements was missing them rubies and those had to be replaced by diamonds due to the ruby crisis from Thailanddog smile.gif
Ok, now I really made a new friend...

Looks like TC.Straps is licensed to sell it. I couldn't find it anywhere else.
But if you find the steel model somewhere for 1500buks, please PM mesubtlelaugh.gif

Thanks for posting this, William.

The piece looks ok and surely took time to design but the price tag cannot be justified IMHO. It's just too much a price tag for the movement and the brand. It can't be denied, however, that it looks good.

Not so sure on this one, don't like the crown mechanism at all...seems like they were trying to look like a PAM but without infringing on the patent...not that there is anything wrong with that if the price w more realistic.

I'll tell you Jeff that there's a difference between the Italian and the Swiss paycheck... So the price is absolutely not justified compare to a Swiss development IMO.
I mean that the "Made in Italy" can't put a higher price tag on any production due to the salary of the employees: It's should be cheaper in fact than any Swiss job.
As well as the time used to conceive something who been designed loooong ago by Panerai: The drawing job was easy there.

I couldn't agree more on that: They made it by walking on the infringement“s edge... It's obvious.
I could considerate giving it a shot if the price was more from this earth.
Still, this surprise didn't make me fall on my back: Ennebi is known to practice high prices for watches housing ETA movements...

I've seen that style bezel on some homages, but that crown is fugly. As far as the price goes... If I'm gonna spend that kind of money there's better pieces out there. Needless to say, I don't really care for it.

Hideous. Looks like everything but the kitchen sink was tossed at it. The double crown CG system is an odd abortion and the sterile deco bezel looks exactly like a Luminor caseback with the absence of the text.

Swing and a miss on every front.

I saw this one on the Oceanic Blog as well Will. My initial response was definitely...meh...just really didn't do anything for me personally. I will admit that I definitely like a number of pieces from the Ennebi lineup VERY much, but this one just doesn't do much for me with a design that seems to be trying too hard if you know what I mean.

I agree with Jeff on the price and Nick on the crown too...definitely an "I'll pass" on this one.

You are totally right Scotty, thanks for beaming me up!
I just wrote back from the Ebay listing who was stating that it was a 2824-2. Still not worth it with a 6497-1...
I will correct my post and buy me new eyes
