I've just completed a sale over the weekend of two new watches.

The Rolex was the watch that broke the bank at a retail price of $5,650. I've wrote
$4,900 in a previous post but I've made an error in the price.

The Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph with stainless steel bracelet retailed for $3,295 Canadian.

The authorized dealer gave me a break since I've two watches at the same time.

Let's see as I count my inventory:

3 Vintage Lord Elgins De Luxe with 626 movements.
3 Vintage Hamiltons (1 Lester, 1 Donald and 1 Boulton).

1 Sinn 103 ST manual wind in Black Dial in brown leather strap

1 Ollech and Wajs Yellow Diver Automatic  in stainless steel
                  bracelet

1 2008 Rolex Oyster Date Perpetual with Domed Bezel in white dial
                           with Oyster Bracelet.

1 2008 Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Automatic Val.7750 in
                  Silver Dial.

Sounds great. I thought you were the man who said he wasn't "rich" enough to own a Rolex. I guess things change, eh? Good for you, Simon! Thumbsup3.gif

Love to see some pix!

The pay cheque from my last employer was basically severence pay along with
my tax return and my first pay cheque plus performance bonus at my current job.

This gave me enough leverage to go out and restart my watch collection.

The Rolex was out of my league, but however after some thoughtful consideration
from the advice of my female friend. She insisted that I buy one because it's once
in a lifetime opportunity.

I couldn't disagree afterall, what makes the Rolex unique are these facts:

1) The Symbol at 12, the Rolex Logo, the indices and hands are
made of 18kt white gold on all models without the diamond indices.

2) Rolex builds their own movements.

3) The two red gears in every movement is made out of Teflon.

I affectionately named my Rolex as the "Anthony Bourdain look a like."

For those who don't  know who Anthony Bourdain is. He was the former Chef at the
Brasserie Les Halles, in Manhattan New York, before he became the host of TV's
No Reservations.

And he's the author of Kitchen Confidential, Bone in the Throat,
Nasty Bits, A Cook's Tour, Les Halles Cook Book and No Reservations.

Former Owner of a Rolex Oyster Date Perpetual in white dial
with Oyster Bracelet. Anthony gave his beloved watch to his Head Waiter
Tim,before he left Les Halles for good.

On the other I have my Tag Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph for moments
when I don't feel like wearing the "Roller."

Why the Tag? you ask.

I bought the Tag because the Omega Speedmaster Professional was beyond my budget. Mine is the regular Carrera Automatic Chronograph, not the Limited Edition or the Grand Carrera.

Here is an image of the watch from another website:

Please note that the Tachymetre is in Charcoal Grey along with the rings in the registers.

The budget did not exactly go to hell in a handbasket,
because after I bought the watches there was enough for
another purchase plus rent.

I have the bug and loving it!
