Hi everyone!
After being stung by the "009" bug, sent by Jeff (Bigrustypig) (...always have to blame it on somebody,so... ), I got this Seiko SKX009K2 from eBay. I got many Seiko's from a few well known sellers from Singapore, and always had great CS on top of paying very good prices. I got this one for $152 shipped, a joke for what this watch is IMO. Having the SKX007 already, I picked up the SKX009K2. The K2 is the blue dial version of the SKX009,with Jubilee bracelet and... I said that before but, I sincerely believe that this is one of the best watch you can get in it's price range.
I know this is not new, we've seen it billion times but I never get tired of this watch, so... It's a true diver with screw down crown and 200m WR rating, beautifully integrated and efficient crown guards (The crown is not that easy to grab because of that, but a small slant on top of the guards makes it easier) , unidirectional bezel with 120 smooth and solid clicks. This ones aligns perfectly with minute markers, when the one on my 007 is just a bit off and I have to cheat a bit to align it. It has great lume, and I like the dial/hands combo. The automatic movement sits in a very well designed case, and I really enjoy the relatively complex lines that surrounds it. The mix of polished and brushed surfaces, makes this timepiece very versatile IMHO. Can be sporty, can be dressy, can take great beating... It's size is perfect. I found it very hard to take good pictures of it inside. With the bad lighting in my house office and all the reflections on the polished portions of the watch, it was not easy to focus on the subtle curves of the case. I couldn't capture the blue dial as much as i wanted either, but you can see some differences between the black chapter ring and the dial. The bezel has the same shade of blue. I think that you have to hold one in your hands to really capture the genius of this Seiko. You can mod it in multitude of ways, you can put it on tones of straps, it has a proven movt... but...it has no solid end links bracelet I hate SS bracelet with folded end links They rattle sometimes, they are never perfectly integrated to the case, they scratch the case and case lugs...Also, while the case has a curved brushed pattern, the end links have a straight, longitudinal pattern...It just makes me sick and I just cannot explain how come Seiko never design solid end links for this so popular and loved watch. I just cannot leave with that, I will try though, just because it's really really comfy and I like the Jubilee style. I have an unused supper oyster SS bracelet that I'm not using either for the same reasons...
Anyway, for anybody without a SKX007-009, I have only one thing to ask you..............What are you waiting for????? ;)
Here's a few pictures and thanks for watching ! Sorry for the dust in some pix.
