Just received my newest addition, the Seiko Emperor SBDX011, AKA Darth auto Tuna.
Was a bit on the fence about it, so had to ask the resident Emperor-cult-leader (Jeff/BigRustyPig) for his insight, and a few PM´s later I was soldhappy guy.gif

Just a QD picture for now, as I still don`t have my camera equipment back (will take proper pictures tomorrow)
I really love it, but have one small issue with it. The bezel I have previously read should be really tight and nice. But mine is a bit more loose than I would like on such a expensive watch ($3000 retail) I can move it with just one finger ...It kind of feels like the bezel lifts just ever so slightly at aprox 1`clock and 7`clock (where it feels like the springs are) And also as the bezel is quite loose, it´s a bit of play between the clicks.
If I compare it to for instance my Seiko Stargate, and the Sawtooth (that William now is the owner of) I would actually rate both of those budget divers as having a tighter bezel imho... And when I tap the bezel with my finger from the side, it "klings", meaning metal meeting metal, with some space between them.
And by now u might think I have bought a old beat-up watch, but it was sold as LNIB, and has absolutely no scratches or dings, and crystal is perfect. Date on warranty card says 2010.07.27 (so under a year old)

But, having said that (and I know that is beginning to look like a trend for me lately, hehe, to find things to complain about with new buystoon1.gif) The rest is top-noth! And has a nice reassuring quality-feel to it. U can "feel" that the 8L35 movement is well made just by winding it, setting date and time. It operates with precision, no doubt there.
And the finish is also great, both on the titanium case and the ceramic shroud (that looks a bit more "rough" than the finish on the ti case) Hands are a dark brushed metal (titanium?) and the second hand is polished, making it stand out nicly. The lume is of course as good as any (Seikos rule when it comes to lume, imo) Crystal has a kind of brownish tint to it (that I haven´t seen before, and like)

Moved it from the rubber to a PVD mesh right away, and it looks awesome on mesh (Jeff fired away some pictures of his, so just knew that mesh was the way to go, cheers Jeff ;0) But will give it a go on a variety of rubber, leather and zulus the next cpl of days, just to see what works.

Great watch, even with the minor bezel thing.
Btw, if any of you guys with experience on the Emperor can share some insight regarding my "loose" bezel, I would appreciate it big time!

Will take some better photos tomorrow.

Rolf

Thanks guys! Bezel issue aside (and not really sure there is something wrong here, just that I thought it to be tighter ...) And I just LOVE the watch, and couldn`t take my eyes of the lume-fest on my wrist last night, hehe.

And William, you`re about right about "my play-ground", I spend many an hour a day on the floor with my 6 month son, so we`ve made an agreement on the foam mat, cause daddys knees can`t handle hardwood flooring, so we share it:0)
Btw, my son tried to EAT my Emperor last night, didn`t like the titanium taste, so he threw it across the floor ...NOT COOL, and we will have words for sure, hehe.

Luckily he was laying on the foam mat and it hit that, and just slided over the floor, all covered in drool. So guess both father and son are drooling over this one, just in different ways. LOL

Big, Big Congrats on that marquee diver from Seiko, Rolf. On your wrist, is no other than the Emperor itself.

I sent you a PM to answer your queries about it and your concerns on the bezel.

thankyou.gifJeff! Will keep u posted with the findings/result:0) If you hadn`t convinced me, I´d be sitting here with something completely different, and probably inferior. You were right on the money with this one, and I love it. No flipping here, that is for sure.

Scary-looking bracelet and watch combo, Rolf. The mesh reminds me of the scales of a Black Mamba. Truly a beauty on the wrist. My crystal ball shows it on an Isofrane soon....Enjoy!
