My dad was telling me about a fellow he has got to know named Chuck Mawhinny.  Sounds like he is one hell of a shot.  103 confirmed kills.  My dad has been buying Scopes off of him and talking guns and such with him.

My old man is big into guns and even more so into long range shooting/accuracy.   These scopes are so clear its like looking through a spotting scope.  My dad goes out west hunting prairie dogs for the long shots.

ANyhow, I am sure you military guys know who I am talking about.   I never heard of him till now.  I will have to read up on him.

Yea I've belonged to a few veterans forums over the last 15 years and have come across his name a few times. Can't recall if he was a member of any of them though.

But he even has a Wikipedia page. ;)

Thanks Skip, I just read the wikipedia.  I heard when it came out he had more kills than Hathcock, the DOD wasnt too happy about it for some reason.  I guess they didnt believe him.

I've seen or heard mention of his name from time to time. Chris Reeve Knives makes a fixed blade edition with his name on it and I think Remington put out a special edition Model 700 in commemeration of his accomplishments.

I'm not 100% certain on that Remington. It may be a Winchester Model 70, because I believe that's the model rifle he use in Viet Nam.
