Just got a MAC, and it is fantastic! My first computer back in '83 was an Apple IIe, and I think it only had 34K. It had a green monitor one disk drive and an Epson dot matrix printer. I think my Dad paid over 3 g's for it. I know I should have bought a new watch, but I think I had to get something my wife could enjoy as well. happy1.gifhappy1.gif

"something the wife could enjoy as well"... hmmm..... naaahhhhh...    but congrats on the Mac.    I can remember using on old Mac way way back when, but even before that I had used a Radio Shack TRS-80 (better known as the Trash-80), which used a cassette tape for storage.

I've thought about getting one, may just do so in 2008. :)

I toyed with a few over the years. Been messing with computers myself since 1983. :dude:

Went to Windows late 95 with Win95 and been there since. Did toy with Linux some back in 2003.

Hurray for U. cool10.gif

You didn't say which Mac so it could be anything. Maybe an iMac, or a new laptop???

I'm using a Mac G-5 running the latest OSX. I also have an old iMac G-3 and a G-4 cube. Yes, I have a PC too. :D

I am another guy who stared with Apple in 1979 (Apple II with no disks, it booted from cassette) and switched to PCs in the early 80s.  I have used Apples occasonally throughout the years but never felt the urge to buy one.  I set up and administrated for many years a 30 user network with Novell and MS servers in various roles, developed websites, databases and standalone software all on the PC platform.  I have played with a dozen flavors of Linux, OS/2 and even for a while ran BeOS on a PC.

In April I decided to pick up a MacBook Pro to replace my Sony Vaio laptop, my travel computer.  Since then I have replaced my wifes PC with a MacBook and replaced my Kids PCs with an iMac, I cannot believe after all these years how much better these things are.

I keep trying to describe to people I know why it is "better" but for the life of me I can't except that since I have owned it, it hasn't crashed or locked up once.  Everything just works without having to screw around with settings or re-install drivers just to get something to work correctly.  It isn't that it does anything that a PC doesn't do, it's just it does it all without any hassle.  I have a newish Quad core Dell workstation on my desk that is set up to boot Vista, Vista 64 Bit and XP and I am writing this on my MacBookPro, it actually irritates me at this point to have to use Windows.

Anyway, I don't want to sound like a zealot but anyone who hasn't tried a new Mac should.

Regards

Jamie

What you laughing at? I still use DOS on one of my machines in my Winery that holds all my winemaking records in a homemade database program and Lotus 123 hand6.gif

Apple is the only way to go. I started with an Ipod(not Ikepod), then a G4 Powerbook, then a Intel Imac. I'm a Windows guy for work (the dreaded Powerpoint and Excel), but all Apple out of the office for the fun stuff, mainly pictures and music. It is scary how intuitive it is to use for my 8 year old son.

subtlelaugh.gif I must be the only person in the world that hated Apple computers. I never saw the advantage or superiority in them. The Wife's business had them and I yanked them all out and replaced them with PC's. Everyone seemed much happier after.
