Hi all,
Just thought i would show you a few of the new straps i have been working on over the past few weeks.
The first two are made using the leather from a 30/40 year old vintage coat that i found for sale at a "Vide grenier" (literally empty your attic!!), in the U.K they are called "car boot sales" Are they "garage sales" in the U.S?
Here is a pic of the coat;

The first strap is cut from underneath the collar where leather was virtually unworn and i left in the machine stitching line and a seam where two pieces of leather were joined,it's a 24mm parallel strap 130 x 80 and 5mm thick:

The second strap from the coat is stitched in a more traditional pattern but with an unwaxed Irish linen thread,again 24mm and 130 x 80mm this time 6mm thick but still very supple.

This strap is made from cowhide but i cut the strap to include some natural "creases" which i think gives it some character,24mm,130 x 80 mm

This last strap is my first "stitchless" strap in a beautiful Rich brown leather with highly polished black edging,this time a 22mm parallel strap 125 x 75 and 4mm thick;

For the prices , more details and some more pictures of these straps please visit my website at;
http://www.orb-straps.com
and if you have not been to the site for a while check out the other new straps.
Thanks for looking and thank-you for your continued support on this great forumBouncy.gif

Thanks for the heads up Paul. Have not looked in the last week or so. I've made a note to check them out when I get back later today. That one made from the coat leather looks great BTW. :cool: ;)

The straps and leather are great, Paul. Kudos on the sourcing and execution of the final product hand6.gif. I also liked that you kept the keepers really substantial in proportions. Many straps I see are thick and robust but are paired with much thinner keepers that may break 5 years ahead of the main straptoon1.gif.

Very nice Paul...I'm still enjoying the straps of yours I got a few months back...now I'm in the market for something special for my "original" Glycine Airman (circa 1964) that saw me through my Army days and a couple of tours in Vietnam...put your design hat on!
