double domed means convexed on both faces, rather than flat underside and curved top...so it would be ( hand6.gif

YW...there seems to be quite a few WIS thrown by the use of the word "double" when used in conjunction with "domed" and thinking it means 2 crystals but it is just 1 crystal that happens to be convexed or curved on both sides giving you a less distorted view of the dial rather than being curved on the exterior and flat on the opposite/inside of the crystal. hand6.gif

Yep GX9901...Oscar has definitely explained it correctly.hand6.gif

Double domed is definitely the  ))  with both sides convex at the same radius (or very close to the same radius).

Think of it in terms of a standard window...the fact that the window (flat for example) is the same thickness from center to edge, all light rays that pass through the window bend the same because they are going through the same thickness of glass.  The more deviation in thickness you get between the two sides as you go from center to edge of the crystal (such as a flat inner surface and curved outer surface), the more "distortion" you are going to get.

The double domed design lends to act more like a flat window pane in this sense than a magnifying lens.

Sorry if I have beat this to death...truly not my intent...;) ....but I agree with Oscar that it seems like many WIS get thrown by the terminology.

Here is a photo of the Moray with double dome sapphire, and a MM with just a domed glass. you can see the distortion on the MM. The double dome sappire is the most expensive for us to use.

You guys should emphasize the double dome a little more on future watches that uses it.  I knew the Magalodon had the double dome, but I had no idea what that meant until very recently.  I think it's a good selling point as not many watches uses the double dome (as far as I can tell). hand6.gif
