After being high tech all day to keep an eye on the weather, I figured I would go with the exact opposite for my evening switch. I am now wearing my new hand wind black dial HMT Pilot on a 5 dollar K-Mart special Speidel black calf strap. I don't have a wrist shot yet, so I am borrowing a pic from the great guy on WUS who arranged to ship a bunch of HMT's from India, then sent up a couple to me (I also got a white dial Janata). This watch is so retro, yet brand new, made the same since around 1962 on Citizen supplied equipment by the Hindustan Machine Tools company. It's around 37mm, 18mm lugs, thin case, small crown, domed acrylic crystal, and I would judge it's a slow beat movement. The '12' on the dial as well as the rest of the markers were handpainted in some luminous paint, and it actually has a decent glow for awhile, better than Vostok! So far it is running around +10 seconds per day, not bad for a watch that retails for less than $20 (!) I am very pleased with it, though I may take a crack at adjusting it and my white dial Janata which is around +15 sec/day, but for now it is just fine and IMHO very cool Cheers, Griff Attachment: pilot.jpg (Downloaded 43 times)
