hey ken,
i have an older Jacque Lemans hand cranker is there anyway to tell if it is pre-genva and what would that mean? should i be glad it is pre-Genva? it was my first hand cranker maybe 7-8 years old. thanks for any insight
Devin...here's the way I understand it...a few years ago, JL, in a marketing ploy, moved their HQ to Geneve, Switzerland where the world's "premium" watches are built...Geneve built watch is supposed to be held in higher regard the "mere" Swiss" built. Geneve is heralded as being the "Watch Capital of the World" (don't tell the Seiko boys in Tokyo that).
At any rate, JL, upon their move to Geneve, started producing watches that were not quite up to the standards of their pre-Geneve days...thus, people will usually indicate whether their JL is a pre-Geneve build!
thanks for the info Ken i will get a photo of mine and post it in the coming days. it is just another watch i hardly ever wear.
