 Yea almost every year it is something. Best thing to do before loading a browser or checking email is update your antivirus.

If you get anything in email from anyone that looks suspicious delete right away do not open it.

Script kiddies may be doing some hacking attempts too so don't be surprise if you find sites down and the web slow at times.
