 Interesting................. and, yes, I do seem to remeber it being called Decoration Day as a child!

A big day in Oak Park when I was just a boy............big parade that with a route that circled much of the town ending up at Scoville Park ( a block from my home where I would sled and ice skate during the winter months) with the huge WWI memorial for speeches.  Before I marched in the St Edmunds School band, I rode my bike along the parade route.  It was resplendent with spoke interwoven with red, white & blue crepe paper and streamers flowing from the handlebars and seat!
