 Original color is actually white.  The guy had a nice looking pearlized white paint that you see on newer Cadillacs, and we thought it'd look cool.  It will give it a higher gloss look when clean.

It's not so much a color change as a color shift :) . 

I am hijacking someone else's pic to show an example...
