for Ft Riley, KS in the early morning to spend a week with the soldiers of the 16th Infantry Regiment.  We will be inducting 5 new nominees into the Distinguished Member of the Regiment (DMOR) program, an honor that must be approved by the Secretary of the army and signed off on by the Infantry Chief of Branch.  Hoooah, 4 of the 5 being inducted are Bandidos...I got inducted last year....there have been 225 DMOR inductees since the end of WWII.

The greatest part of the whole week is being with the soldiers.  They put on the usual "dog & pony" training show for us, but mostly we just spend the days bullS**tting with them....they love our war stories and we love their's.  The 1st Battalion is "standing up" converting from a training unit to a full combat unit set for deployment next year....I will get to address the new soldiers of Bandido Charlie who, strangely, under the Army's new CAB (Combined Arms Battalion) will "stand up" as a Tank Company in an Infantry Regiment...as a former Armor Officer, I just hope they let me shoot that big freaking 120mm main gun on the Abrams Tank.

Thursday night is capped off with the Regimental Ball which is a blast...I have fun telling the brass to shove it, and I go sit with the troops and their wives.  As a note, we have used some of the money you guys so kindly donated to the Bandido Charlie Association to buy "Ball" tickets for many of the lower ranking soldiers to whom the $30 fee was/is a large sum...especially those with families.  So thank you guys....and I will be sure to tell them of your Generosity and how I am going to hit you up again at Christmas time!!!!

I'll be back on Saturday and will try to check in before then!!!!  You guys are the greatest!!! yahoo.gif
