Edgel

When I was born in 1944, my Dad's first cousin, Edgel was in a Japanese concentration camp in the Philippines and his brother in law, Ray was in a German concentration camp in Belgium; thus my name. Happily, both made it home safely but they told tales of the thousands who didn't and of the deprivations they suffered while imprisoned. All this makes me very proud of the heritage of my namesakes. Edgel Ray Alley, CPO USNR As a P.S., The Vietnam war was just ramping up when I got an early out from active duty in 1965 to enroll at Ohio State, so I did not have to serve in that conflict. I honor all who did serve there and I am thankful I did not. Those who falsely claim to have been there at that time dishonor all those who sacrificed so much there.
