Not sure, hammer, but I would not be surprised! There is a "locking mechanism" designed to keep the strap stable, but there is no mention of whether the "brake" is inherent to the strap or to the case. We can probably safely assume it is a fitting on the case. Strap makers are very good at replacing any and all strap variations - so perhaps the answer is "difficult but not impossible"?
