Sell them if you're not wearing them.

A simple rule of thumb, unless, of course, the watches have tremendous sentimental value, are so cheap that they are essentially worthless [some Chinese automatics] or they are vintage and of great value and worth having around just for the pride of ownership.

Otherwise, dump them. They are pieces of metal, consumer goods, and chances are someone will buy them. Lower your expectations about price, however. Look at how many watches are being bumped up 10, 15, 20 times with multiple price reductions before they sell.

As for the Invictas et al, if you bought decent models and have kept them in excellent condition, you can do well on the Bay. When I began collecting last year, I thought the Invictas were swell watches. But I tired of the quartz movements and the ever-increasing size and unnecessary complications of those monsters and sold them. I found ready buyers.

As you move up, remember that there is always someone one step behind.
