You really hit the nail in the head with this thread!!! Up until last week I was dead set on my grail watch the MKII Sea Fighter, I've always like the "vintage" style to it, modeled after Blancpains' Fifty Fanthoms watches I knew I had to eventually land one..
Then just last week I found a thread on WUS that brought up the same questions as you did, and i've had this dilemma ever since: do I want a homage or the watch after it's been modeled? Don't get me wrong, MKII watches are GREAT watches, i've admired the brand since I felt into this sickness
, but the SF is modeled after the Squale, so right now i'm stuck in the middle both of this beauties...I'm going on a trip to Europe next week, if I DO decide to buy the Squale (right now Squale is winning 60/40) then i'll be sure to post pics ASAP.. I did send an email to Squale and they were quick to respond and nice to deal with.
BTW, here's the model i'm speaking about (borrowed pic from a fellow watch lover ;))....
