Hi Oscar my old friend, Thanks for stopping by my facebook page. It's been a long time. I am sure all is well. Sorry for not posting for sometime as I have been working on a few projects. Here are some pictures of my "Concept Rubber" as requested. I have always wanted to design a strap that puts what I have learnt in school in best use (Mechanical engineering). The design of the strap is mainly inspired by vintage submarines and there are 3 key elements: 1st: "wrap around the case". I wanted something to be different, in both design and engineering aspects. 2nd: "Gills". The "gills" on both sides of the strap are "see through", which allow your wrist to breath in humid conditions. They are inspired by the valves the ballast tanks of Submarines which are used for submerging or surfacing. 3rd the see through back. The idea comes from vintage diving helmets. This is my favourite part of the strap. The strap is made of medical grade rubber. Those of you who are familiar with the mold industry may know how challenging this project is. My plan was to have this strap ready for last Christmas, but... This is my first rubber strap, but definitely not the last. Please enjoy the pictures and feel free to send me any comments. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The actual strap, a prototype I have been testing for months: ![]() Thank you for reading my posts. Again, please feel free to e-mail me anytime for watch talks or any comments on the rubber strap. My e-mail: unitektrading@yahoo.com Best wishes, Ted Su(TW)
