.I have 6.75 inch wrists and have no problems at wearing 46mm up to even 50mm watches. In fact, I wear one on each wrist as often as I can. My cuffs are long enough and big enough to handle these big watches.
To ease the burden of wearing a "big" watch, you might want to try going for the ones that aren't that tall/thick....i.e. below 17mm.
As a warning though, once you get used to those bigger than 44mm, you'll not want to go smaller than those.
