If the rubber strap is made correctly with the ledge that hangs over the back of the watch I would be happy to call it real! I bought one of the eBay silicon copies and they don't have the ledge so the strap hinges on the springbar and looks horrible! I looked into having rubber dive straps made once and then got distracted! I think it's about time I re-investigated since I really want a nice quality omega style rubber strap in blue!

That's a good point Chris.  I would say that the straps I purchased off the bay (for very cheap...slightly less than what the silicon straps sell for on the bay) are complex in design...they have the "ledge" that you pointed out that really provides a nice tight fit to the case.  They also have a high durometer material impregnated in the strap between the springbar hole and where the strap contacts the watch case to keep that fit very tight with no fit slop whatsoever.  The rubber itself is definitely much more toward the "firm" side rather than being soft (much stiffer than silicon).  It is definitely not a dust magnet.

Looking at your pic again (shot out of direct sunlight), I notice that the strap looks very similar to my first shot (also shot out of direct sunlight).  Of course, my 3rd and 4th shots (shot in direct sunlight) give the strap a different look.

...nonetheless, as many have pointed out, this strap (mine) is not an easy install by any stretch of the imagination...so the geometry of the spring bar holes to the case interface must be a slightly bigger dimension.
