Today, still with my newbie, the Laco Flieger on 55mm, and also wore my Steinhart Nav B on 47mm...both on "A" dials.
Here's a size comparison of both. They are on exactly the same focus plane from the camera's lens and thus no exagerration of size. Oscar, the 55 isn't really that big . Beside it is a spare Flieger strap which I got about 2 weeks ahead of the newbie's arrival.
Here it is solo and beside it is a Flieger strap executed by SteveO in black so that I can mix and match it with my moods.
Jeff...that Laco really pulls off the vintage pilot look very, very well...great looking piece.
Those comparison shots are great and really help visualize what a 55 mm case diameter looks like..."not really that big eh Jeff" ....hmmm...ok amigo, ok...
I will again admit that I could not pull it off (a personal thing this watch wearing thing is...my personal limit for lug-to-lug tip given my average-ish 7.25" wrist is in the ~57mm dimension which I'm sure this one exceeds), but you are the man amigo...you are the man!
...and I definitely agree with your comments, takes "cajones" to give this one a whirl...heck, at the present rate of watch dimensional growth, 55 mm may be an average sized watch 5 years from now.
Thanks, Chris. I still owe you the measurements of lug to lug. Can't seem to find my caliper but I'll give you both lug to lug and horn tip to horn tip. 5 years....maybe 80mm
