I meant to post this last week end but did not have time… so on Christmas eve, I met with a local WIS and purchased this DOXA 5000T Sharky in a too rare Face 2 Face deal. It was really cool to meet a fellow watch enthusiast & forum member in person in Charlotte. I had owned a 5000 before, the Pro version and sold it because the orange dial just did not suit it IMHO, did not go well with these polished applied indices for my taste anyway. I know that if I was to have one Doxa only, it had to be the classic Pro but I preferred the Pro dials of the 750 and 1200 models, which I ended up getting later on. However. I did miss the 5000T, of all the Doxas I’d owned it seemed to be the best in terms of build quality, their flagship model maybe and it was noticeably bigger, wears larger too. It has amazing wrist presence and is less toolish than the others, a little classier with its new indices, simpler & more classic dial( doesn’t have the cross like lines and has centered writings), and has an amazing bracelet (thick, classy and high quality) though I am a fan of the classic BOR. My other Doxa satisfy my needs for the classic Sub and BOR. This SeaConqueror is still definitely a Doxa, there is no mistaking it for another brand but it is different enough for me to own both the 1200 Pro and this one. I may even get a 3rd one at some point, as I miss the 750… a 600 would be nice as well J but I would love the Chrono version too! J Anyway, this 5000 Sharkhunter is beautiful, very comfortable on the wrist overall but I wish I had half links or micro adjustments to get it sized just right… for some reason, I just do not like using the diving extension to get it right. So right now I added back a link, and it is just a tad too big for my taste though it is not a big deal. Another think I like about this DOXA model is the mvt, they use a 2892 which is the same mvt Omega also [and Anonimo?] use as a base in some of their watches and is a step up from the other models’ 2824. Mine is super accurate at barely +1 sec/day, which I checked over a 4-day period on the wrist! Overall I love the watch, its fit and finish, and it is the best lume I have seen on a Doxa for sure. It glows bright and all night too. It is a keeper, the only one that could replace it would be a Caribbean 5000 maybe J. One think I would prefer is an all brushed bracelet as I am not a fan of polished SS in general but I must admit it suits the watch well. I’m posting some pics below but please be kind, they are all cell phone pics as my camera “mysteriously” got broken over Christmas week end according to my kids… “We don’t know what happened Dad, it was already broken when we took it outside in the snow !!!” Thanks for reading!
