William/Hammerfjord pointed me recently to a mesh supplier and I ordered a few in stainless steel and in PVD in various widths. I decided to fit and crimp a 22mm stainless steel mesh into the 21mm lugs of my Fieldmaster. It looked swell. But soon after, I wanted to match the polished sides of the Fieldmaster with a polished mesh....NONE, said the supplier. So off to the watchsmith I went last weekend and had him polish the bracelet as best he could. The bracelet looked just fine and enjoyed a nice shine. Shown beside it is the original and still brushed extra length. the watchsmith said if I didn't like the sheen anymore, he could brush it back to the original. Looking forward to the day when mesh will be issued in bronze and maybe then, I'll shoot down a bronze-cased timepiece. Thanks for looking. Comments/disagreements very welcome. ![]() The cut portion on the left is the original mesh and the one on the watch is the polished version. ![]() Another view/look ![]() And still another...not very noticeable in the pic but much clearer in person ![]() Here's what the Seiko Kamikaze might look like on anti-shark.....just experimenting. Might need to crimp the mesh a little more because the Kamikaze lugs are just 20mm. Might try it soon. ![]()
