the aging process takes years, the chemicals are to get it started quicker. I think the brushed finish starts slower, but Ralf has one in Thailand and it is getting darker quicker due to the humidity and the salty air from the ocean. You need to be sure and wash the watch to remove your oils that are covering the surface. mine is also lightly sand blasted, something I did myself in the garage, then I washed it, then treated it about 6 times over 5-6 hours with various water temps, and also outside allowing the sunny air to hit it for a few hours before washing off the chemicals... then I did it again about 1 week later.
