Jswing,

You def. "need" to be patient with the process...I am 2 days into mine and I am dunking both my Zenton (Brushed) and Benarus (Sand blasted) at the same time with the same amount of gel, same water temp.

The Benarus is getting darker quicker compared to the brushed. Brushed seems more stubborn than sand blasted. But still no where near Steve's color

Even though I cleaned both well I...I used a soft brush and dish soap, gloves etc..I still had finger print smudges after the patina around the Zenton Bezel...It looked horrible but erased them with wet baking soda...This worked well but lightened the entire area...So will need to dunk again and perhaps blend with light baking soda so the patina is more uniform.  I plan to add more dishsoap and scrub more before the third dunk.

For clarification when I say dunk...I mean submerge the entire watch in patina gel for at least 5 hrs.

Tonite I plan for a 3rd dunk and during the weekend I plan to dunk overnight.

Hope that helps and photo's to come later....

Cool stuff guys!  I have only had personal experience with the egg process, and with that process you are looking at hours of total exposure in the bag.

With the liver of sulfur gel solution (which should be water mixed with a little bit of the gel), I'm very surprised to hear you guys talking about soaking the watch for hours as my understanding of that process is that it works quite fast with a hot solution -seconds or at most minutes (I've read the solution will work MUCH slower with a cool or room temp solution).

I do have some liver of sulfur gel that I have received at home, but just haven't had the opportunity yet to try it. Maybe our resident expert Scott (timesofplenty) thumbsup.gif could chime in, but I thought that when he did the liver of sulfur process, the results were quite fast.

I would also agree with the comments that a blasted bronze patinas more quickly than a brushed or polished finish...(makes sense in that the metal is more 'opened up' I guess).  I have also read that it is recommended that you brush/blast/polish the metal within 30 minutes of doing the liver of sulfur exposure for maximum results. ...but hey, no personal experience yet, hope to try it out over the next week or so.

Here's my series 1 Moray with the egg process only (different UNI5275 bronze though versus the series II):
